I watched a lot of old favorites this weekend because there was basically nothing else to do.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), Dawn of the Dead (1979), Austin Powers in Goldmember, Meet the Parents.

w00t! All great movies! :D

I saw THE AMITYVILLE HORROR today and found it to be a very creepy, well-made and scary film. I don't know why, but I just found myself interested all the way through. Both of the leads were very likable and you didn't want anything to happen to them. The babysitter sequence was undoubtably my favorite part. It was very scary and disturbing. I thought Ryan Reynolds did a good job here and I look forward to seeing more from him. Same goes for Melissa George, who serves as the film's real heart. I know many call the ending anticlimatic but I thought it worked and it didn't bother me. I did, however, dislike the final scene (like Horror Whore). It seemed out of place and wasn't scary at all. It came off as lame instead of creepy. Overall I thought this was an excellent horror film. It's definitely one of the better ones to be released this year and I enjoyed it more than THE RING TWO. It's not nearly as good as TCM, but it is still a fun and terrifying ride that is worth seeing.

8/10 (A-)

FEVER PITCH - 8/10 (A-)
Wow, this one definetely caught me by surprise. The leads were cast perfectly, Drew was great as always and Jimmy, who I normally don't like, was quite good and hilarious. I loved the ending, it was very heartwarming and funny. You knew exactly what would happen but it was still hilarious. This one really hit close to home (no pun intended) to me. I'm exactly like Jimmy's charactor and my exgirlfriend is exactly like Drew's charactor. FEVER PITCH is a must see for anyone who wants to enjoy a good, funny, heartwarming flick.

The Jackal - A

Obviously i've seen it before, but i love it and the character of the Jackal is the BEST!!!! One of my fave scenes:

The Jackal: Right, now i need to speed test, so run.

Lamont: Hahahahahaha, whadda' ya' mean man?

The Jackal: I mean run.

One of the best scenes ever filmed...especially because of the shooting in it and the first time we see the gun on its mount. Bruce rocks, he should do bad guys more and Richard Gere is much better as a cool looking tough guy than a lovey dovey guy, like he usually plays. One of my best films ever made.

Chariots Of Fire - B

I watched this for the first time for ultimate movie mayhem. It was a little slow, but very inpsirational. The contrast between a man who ran to prove something and one who ran for God's pleasure was interesting. The famous Vangelis score sounded a little dated at times but it was great in the opening sequence with all the runners on the beach.

Rewatched Sideways, B+, I wasn't quite as big a fan without the hugely reactive audience laughing at every moment.

A decent, yet slightly flawed, and less brilliant version of Se7en, basically. I enjoyed it.

The Interpreter - B+

Good political thriller. Very good infact. I enjoyed it. it started off a bit rusty, it was patchy, hard to get into, but then it got really good, until the end, which was pretty cool as well. Nicole Kidman's voice annoyd me slightly, only slightly, i wish she used her own voice. The pictures they used in the film were obviously fake, they were quite low quality....bad, but it didnt really bother me too much. Seam Penn was brilliant...as he always is, however i dont believe he would be feeling like that only two weeks after his wife dies.

But, overall a bloody good film. WATCH IT! :)

Definetely not as bad as I have heard. I thought it was really cute and parts of it were hysterical! I might buy it when it comes out on DVD since it comes out near my birthday.

I picked this up on DVD the other day, but haven't gotten around to watching yet. Carrie-Anne Moss being in it caught my eye. Glad to hear it isn't totally sucky! :D

Million Dollar Baby - 8,5 / 10 - Wonderful performances, strong directing and a superb pacing. Beautiful and moving ending, although I knew how it was gonna end(screw the critics).

Marnie - 7,5 / 10 - Good Hitchcock, but a bit slow at moments. Need to dig this one very soon again.

Ray - A+ Why didn't I watch this earlier? I was completely blown away by how incredible a movie this was, especially with everyone saying it was so ordinary. Jamie Foxx easily deserved his Oscar, and I felt that there were many supporting roles that were terrific as well. The music was gold, Foxx virtually transformed into Charles, the cinematography and editing are top-notch, and there's almost no fault I could immediately find with it. It's my fourth favorite movie of the year after Before Sunset, Eternal Sunshine and Million Dollar Baby.

BIRTH - 9/10 (A-)
This was a really tough one to grade. First of all, I didn't think the film was boring at all. I thought it was quite interesting how Anna thought it was absolutely hilarious that the little boy said he was Shawn and then completely changed her opinion. I think it's one of the best films of last year. The choreography was amazing (Mike, see this!!) and the music was haunting. Everybody in the film was absolutely amazing, especially Kidman. I don't understand what the big deal was about the bath tub scene. It's not like it was at all sexual and Kidman even said to the kid, "I want you to leave." I absolutely loved the long shots in the film as well. BIRTH is a must for choreography lovers and a definiate must for film lovers.

The Forgotten - 5.7/10
Enjoyable enough with surprisingly sharp dialogue here and there; too bad it got wrapped up in a pretty obvious thriller plot and introduced some bad actors, too many flashbacks and a really, really iffy ending.

Julianne Moore redeemed it somewhat, and the fact that it had music over the whole film made it kind of interesting. But first part - solid, second part - horrible.
