 Re: It Chapter 2
Amy Adams is my first choice but Chastain is my second so I'd be very pleased if she were cast. Plus it always seemed likely being that she was in Mama from the same director.

 Re: It Chapter 2
I kind of prefer Amy because she is a 'warmer' actress and looks a bit more like Sophia Lilly, but Chastain would do a great job too.

I love Chastain, but I think this is a mistake. Keep the budget low, people are coming for the clown. Spending $50m on the cast isn't gonna add a cent to the gross.

But it's going to make a fortune anyway so it doesn't matter too much.

 Re: It Chapter 2
So they're adding Bill Hader and James McAvoy now!
This is a mistake, in my opinion. They should keep it with just unknowns. I know they now have a lot of money to spend on it, but adding McAvoy and Hader will not increase its appeal at all. It's just a waste of money. Same with Chastain.

Neither McAvoy or Hader are big names. They are just B listers.

 Re: It Chapter 2
So why add them? It's pointless, and will change the dynamic of the film. The first was about the clown. The second will be a poster full of star names.

I quite love those additions, can see them playing the characters well.
But wholeheartedly agree, the names seem to be taking away from the horror element...which is what they would want to sell the film on you'd say.

 Re: It Chapter 2
I think it's different to have kids be unknowns versus adults. I've never seen such a high profile film be full of unknowns. I think it makes sense to cast stars.

O'Shea Jackson Jr., Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, Aldis Hodge, Neil Brown Jr., Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Stephen Root, Winston Duke, Catherine Keener.
Yes, you're right. So damn recognizable.

Yes, you're right. So damn recognizable. Keener and Williams were recognizable pre Get Out.

Williams isn't recognizable even now. Keener, could go either way but only fans of film might know her. Still all unknowns to me.

 Re: It Chapter 2
If I hadn't seen The Skeleton Twins and Barry, I'd assume Bill Hader would be a mistake. But he can pull this off. My issue is definitely the overall casting of recognizable faces.

 Re: It Chapter 2
I think its fine casting known actors.
It's not like they've cast Tom Cruise, The Rock, Nicole Kidman, Denzel Washington, Tom Hanks etc as the adults.

 Re: It Chapter 2
James McAvoy is just too big of a name for my liking. And Jessica Chastain too. Bill Hader is fine, I guess, in terms of being well-known or not, but still I would have preferred a proper actor, not a comedian.

 Re: It Chapter 2
McAvoy is a little out of place, especially with the Split fame and sequel coming up.
It's a tough cast to balance. I don't think the names will hurt it though. The only real problem is the adult section is so much worse than the child section. So it'll either be a great ensemble with nothing to do (Like the TV movie) or they rework the source material.
I still haven't seen the first because it is so known to me, I'm hoping that they really rework the 2nd part of the book, and with a good cast, I'm totally there. I don't mind the casting so far though.

 Re: It Chapter 2
Its worth seeing the first film even though you may have read the book or seen the TV movie.
Agree that the second will need some reworking (which i believe they will do) so it can work as a theatrical sequel and not be seen as the far inferior half of the story.
