Looking Glass
This has the feel of a post-watershed TV movie from the 90s, and it's no surprise since Hunter is TV through-and-through. From Cage's breath-acting to the "Looking Glass" and "The End" title animations, it all just feels very amateur. Which is a shame because the idea of a secret tunnel where a motel owner has witnessed a murder is actually pretty good and could have led to a film about morals, conscience, do two wrongs make a right, etc. But it limps through until the end, never really exploring the characteristics of its own story and setting. The central idea of the tunnel is never truly taken advantage of. Characters are left with little-no explanation of their part in the plot. Nothing is really resolved. Hunter seems to want to be David Lynch. He was probably inspired by him but he cannot even do a good imitation. He's just lazy. On top of that you have a poor man's Jeremy Renner (Blucas), and Robin Tunney is basically asleep through the whole flick - though she is hotter at 45 than she ever was as a younger actress.
