Re: Black Panther
A few more thoughts:
-I thought Jordan's character name was a bit silly. It is already mentioned numerous times that he has killed a lot of people, no need to give him a stupid name as well. -Lupita Nyong'o was hot! -The film would have been so much better if any other character from the MCU was featured. Just a glimpse of Black Widow or Captain America. Just anything! -The first credits scene is a waste. That point was already made before the film ends. The second credits scene is better but still ... nobody cares about Bucky. He's a prick. It makes a small connection to IW at least. -Shuri's "hello colonizer" line was funny at first but on reflection doesn't really make sense. -Winston Duke was trying so hard to be funny but each of his lines fell flat. -Whenever there is action, the cinematography is quite erratic. Not a pleasant watch by any means. -Lastly, I feel the film missed an opportunity to feature the only other black character in the MCU, Nick Fury. He should have had a little bit of screen time.

He's not the only other black character in the MCU.

I can't think of any other. Who else is there?
Regardless, still a missed opportunity. Sam Jackson is a big named black actor. He should have been included. Maybe even instead of Freeman.

I wish we still had Terrence Howard. I like Roadie though.
My biggest complaint of the movie is the score. The soundtrack is so good and they should have used more of it. The tribal drums were cool, but anytime they went to a standard classical it felt weird.

My cinema ticket did not have enough space for the whole title so it shows "Black Pant".

Re: Black Panther
Some reasons why Black Panther was awesome:
1. Killmoger - lead 2. The South Koren car chase 3. The supporting characters having their own motives outside the main plot and they have their role in the climax 4. Excellent secret world building 5. The serious stuff never gets in the way of the fun and vice versa 6. I actually like the final battle alot. The train part was a little weak, but it had a great payoff death scene. And everything in the field was cool. Freakin' rhinos!

Re: Black Panther
It is a hard one to rank right now. I assume it will play well with repeated viewings but you never know.
1. The Avengers 2. Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Civil War 4. The Winter Solider
5. Thor 6. Iron Man 7. Black Panther 8. The Incredible Hulk 9. Doctor Strange 10. Thor Ragnarok 11. The First Avenger 12. Age of Ultron
13. Spider-Man: Homecoming 14. Iron Man 3 15. Iron Man 2 16. Thor: The Dark World
17. Ant-Man 18. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
I'm giving the last two their own tier because I've only watched them once. I should probably give them another chace though. As mentioned, these movies are great on repeat viewings.

Then it returns during Killmonger’s “Ancestral Plane”. It’s not a coincidence they’re the two best scenes in the movie.

Not sure what movie you all saw. Thought it was great. Maybe the best Marvel?

Re: Black Panther
Finally saw it IMAX-like screen and 3D. Very much enjoyed it. Looked great, wonderful acting.
Still not my favorite Marvel film. I like Guardians of the Galaxy best, but that's also because I really like stories with the kind of reluctant hero who is forced into the adventure and who doesn't have any obvious super powers and deals with it by being clever and humorous. And where plans go completely awry for both hero and victim. (Hey, sounds like my novels. Not a coincidence.)
Anyway, the only problem with BP that I had is a small one: With the exception of the South Korean chase scene, the resolutions of the fight/battle scenes did not have any twists or clever resolutions. It was just "let's fight, oh, you won. Okay, fight over."
Know what I mean? I love clever writing where the hero (or the villain) does something unexpected or clever instead of just "hit the other guy till you win."
Don't misinterpret me; I still liked the movie a lot. I just felt a little disappointed that the fight ended and I thought, "that's it?"

Like the dance-off in Guardians for example.

But still beats DC in that department also.

Re: Black Panther
Justice League did have better action scenes with the League vs. Superman and The Flash topping the sword to Wonder Woman. Also Wonder Woman’s No Man’s Land was better than anything in a Marvel film except Iron Man taking out the terrorists in the first Iron Man.
I don't think there was one scene even standing out in Black Panther, but I'm generally not impressed by single sequences in a film I think, I have some examples I think, but mostly I just see things as part of a film, instead of feeling they are some singular great achievement of cinema.

This Korea sequence is just as average (the driver from the blown up car sliding down the road didn't help either) as Wonder Woman's No man's land.
League vs. Superman = cool The Flash topping the sword to Wonder Woman = meh Iron Man taking out the terrorists in the first Iron Man = that was great, and to this day it's been the only Marvel film, I'd consider worthy of a best picture nom.

Agreed. I'm also perplexed by the reception to these scenes. They are extremely average blockbuster action sequences.

Yep even I can agree with this, and I liked the movie quite a bit. The casino/car chase sequences were nothing special, but still the best directed action sequences in the movie which is probably why they are getting so much praise.

Re: Black Panther
It was pretty good, but there are way better superhero and even Marvel films. The costumes and effects were some of the best in the MCU though. The supporting characters were good, but T'Challa himself was weak as a protagonist. The Plot was pretty similar to The Lion King now that I think of it. And it was very slow in the middle. But it was more entertaining than not.
The Lion King reference is being mentioned, but I couldn't find it in there. Nice, down to earth review of the film though.

Re: Black Panther
When a film has so many flaws, it is a weak argument claiming it is similar to another film, and using that as a negative. To choose that as your flagship criticism is just kind of silly (not saying zwackerm did that, but so many other comments I've seen elsewhere are doing just that). Great movies are made all the time that share plots and characteristics with other films.

Re: Black Panther
Was T'Chalka killed by N'Jobu or did Killmonger take revenge from T'Challa and ascend to throne in Black Panther? There are similarities between the movies but BP is not like Lion King and by this logic even Game of Thrones is a convoluted version of The Lion King.

The father was killed by Captain America's gay lover, and that was in Civil War.

Proves my point. I don't understand how BP is same movie as Lion King.
