I have plenty of girl-friends. Just no girlfriend. While I certainly have lots to learn about being in a relationship, I think I have a pretty good idea concerning women, not to mention from my sisters.

My original point was simple:

I just meant if you want to attract women, you should respect them. And being a Republican and supporting Republicans means the opposite of that.

Umm, even though I am as far removed from supporting Republican views as I can be, that would mean that Republicans stay single and don't procreate. That, in turn, would mean, that, at some point, that go extinct. Which, I'd say, is not true. It is this kind of generalizing statements that makes the divide between the sides bigger than it has to be.

FYI, the one “date” I’ve been on I did not disclose my political beliefs, though I could tell she was on the left. Belle is right wing like me; that certainly wasn’t my problem.

My main problem is I’m a coward who doesn’t want to just ask girls out and go on awkward first dates. Most of my friends who have girlfriends were friends first, which is my goal because there’s so much less pressure than on a date.

I actually think one of my problems is I am too obsessed with finding a girlfriend, and that's not attractive. The way you attract a woman is by being passionate about life and your interests. When the main thing you think about is how much you wish you were in a relationship, even if you don't talk about it necessarily, you will lack the passion you should have for the things in life that are actually interesting.

I really need to get passionate about my major and do more than the bare minimum when I turn in schoolwork, keep up with politics and current events, watch movies and TV shows, read the books I've wanted to get to, get my bible reading done, try to write the books I wanted to, practice my viola, finally get around to learning the piano/guitar, sing, listen to the music I love, keep going to the gym, getting stronger and better at sports, go on some of the trips I've wanted to and just absorb as much of life as I can. I feel like my life right now is sort of stagnant and boring; I do the same things day in, day out. I'm not interested in my life beyond finding a girlfriend, and I'm sure that it shows.

This is genuinely the saddest thing I have read all week or so. Don't mean it as a dig.

I think you're on this track anyways, but try to spend as much time with girls you have things in common with as you can. When a girl falls for you it's more likely going to be someone who thinks the same way you do and therefore feels like you understand them. Honestly all the girls I've had the most feelings for, feeling connected with them and my body knowing we had things in common, came before I actually found out anything about them or any of their interests

Yeah, I mean it was hard to admit to myself. I came to the realization yesterday and I'm trying to do something about it.

I had lunch with Ariel today and we just talked about our passions pretty much for a good time after we discussed how I should conduct myself around Mario and Belle now that they've broken up. It's really not hard at all, just after being obsessed with Belle and then Belle and Mario for such and extended period of time, I sort of forgot how to care about other things.

And about widening my circle, I am making more of an effort to talk to non Christians, but I know a relationship with a non Christian wouldn't work, it's just too important to me
