Thor: Ragnarok
Obviously this is the best Thor movie. It is such a step up on every level. The previous two are absolute shite. But this is also one of the best MCU movies to-date. I loved its synth and Flash Gordon-esque Techno-colour futurismo design, and of course the jokes are trademark Waititi, who did a splendid job here with a great, well-written humorous script. Not much else to say really. I just had a blast. Goldblum is great. The blue rock man is hilarious. Hemsworth owns the movie with his humour too. Very likable. And HULK is ace. I even liked seeing Doctor Strange!
The MCU are making so many good films these days that the shit MCU films are now just very few.

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
Thor: Ragnarok is very disappointing. Thor: The Dark World remains my favorite in the Marvel snoriverse, primarily because they got the humor right, and of course just because Space Vikings. The humor in this third Thor movie is either too broad or unfunny, while the story is immensely obvious and boring. I haven't looked at my watch so many times since the remake of Solaris. Tied for worst of the Thor movies with the first one. *D*

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
The Valkyrie character played by Tessa Thompson looked great in the costume she wore for most of the film, but looked stumpy and disappointing in the Valkyrie uniform that Thor gave her at the end.

Yep I was also surprised that Damon was in this. I kept wondering if its actually him and then found it to be true.

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
THOR RAGNAROCK
It was a good entertaining film. I liked the characters and generally the story. I thought the fight with Thor and Hulk was fun and I really enjoyed the Valkyrie character. I thought Cate was good as the villain and I liked the fire demon guy as well. A couple things did annoy me and that was the cut aways from Hella. She was made to be this focused villain but it seemed like she was more a side item and even though she was quite powerful I would have liked seeing her fight all three of the revengers at once. Also, it seemed like Valkyrie was getting owned by her which was a bit disappointing to. The other annoying thing to me was the after credits scenes. What happened to connecting the films together since they are supposed to be leading up to Infinity War. Instead we get random scenes. I mean, we waited to the end of the credits for that Grandmaster deleted scene. Just trashy and annoying.
Grade - B

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
I don't know...I think there is a strong bond between Thor and Loki and I think I kinda like that Loki has been an anti-hero these last two movies. He is much more of a chaotic neutral than an evil.

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
That's why this MCU movie works, because Loki is a joke. In previous films, I never understood why Loki was so revered. I thought he was shit, and in this they made him so, which aligned with my feelings, so I was very happy about that.

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
I really loved it. It works so well because of Thor and his re-worked character. (After watching the original Thor over the weekend - it's a pretty drastic change in personality.)
The snake story was my absolute favorite line though.
I think the only major miss was not taking advantage of the full drama of Asgard being destroyed (it's undercut by the rock guy's line about rebuilding from the base) and the Warriors 3 being killed (no reaction from Thor at all, plus Fandral and Volstaff could have used a better death scene - either more surprising or more climactic).

Magnus wrote: my complaint also applies to Hulk, whose entire development in Ultron seems to just go to waste. I will grant you Banner gives Loki too much of a pass, but I can buy because Loki is more chaotic than evil. Now I didn't care for the Hulk subplot in Ultron. But I also do not feel this movie neglects it. In fact, with Banner worried he might permanently slip into being the Hulk forever, I think this is, ironically, the best Hulk storyline in the MCU.

Algren wrote: I did not notice the Warriors Three at all. Googled it and still no recollection. Ha yep, they are barely in this one at all (and to be fair - they aren't main characters in the first two Thor movies either). I think they're a decent amount of fun in the first Thor movie though. I suppose it's why they didn't have bigger death scenes, since they were never set up that much character-wise. I just figured since Marvel has so few named character deaths, they could at least make the ones that do happen somewhat memorable. Hopefully Lady Sif can return later since she wasn't in this one due to her commitments to Blindspot.

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
Again, had to Google Lady Sif. Are you a Thor superfan? Jaimie Alexander is always welcome back, but only if she adopts the fun and humour in Ragnarok. I remember her character being pretty serious in The Dark World.

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
If considering the original Thor to be one of Marvel's best (at least in top 7), then I suppose so, ha. Not many seem to hold it in very high regard.

I dislike it. Thor is too goofy in it. I'll put it down to Kenneth Branagh. The guy is a hack.

The stuff on Earth felt too grounded for a Thor movie. It just felt...boring

 Re: Thor: Ragnarok
I did like the first Thor movie but the earth plot there is really tedious and boring. Dark World is all out crap. This one is fine because of the jokes but I didn't like its tie-ins with rest of the universe and the fact that its basically Escape from an unknown Planet.
