For Love Of The Game - B+

I've never been a baseball fan, but director Sam Raimi and Kevin Costner make their passion for baseball come alive in this movie. The baseball sequences were all great. The love story in this felt wrong, maybe because Kelly Preston is a boring actress. She's not bad, just boring. Sports and Costner fans would like this movie. I certainly enjoyed it.

Fun Little movie. Penelope Cruz still looking fuckable.....Matthew (Dirk) was pretty trim, also. I liked this film, won't be buying it, but i will be recommending it if not for the comedic one liners from Steve Zahn alone.

Spanglish - 2.6 - Horrible. I hated the dialogue, and while Sandler was good in a few moments, I thought he was awful in a couple scenes. The second worst movie I've seen from last year.

Donnie Brasco - A

Certainly Johnny Depp's best film ever. Al Pacino was really really good and shown some depth to his character...good to see he can still act. I thought the script was brilliant and the casting was spot on. It would get a "perfect" rating, however i felt the ending was rushed and could have had a 'finale', so to speak. But I will definately be buying it....

All of this positive buzz on FEVER PITCH makes me really want to see it. I didn't even want to see it that much.

THE AMITYVILLE HORROR (2005) - 9/10 (A-)
Okay, I feel that I'm really going to get bashed now. The trailer looked absolutely terrible but the final product was quite good. The cast was great and the pacing was to die for. The movie wasn't scary at all but then again, I wasn't exactly thinking it would be scary. None of the jumps got me either. There were a couple parts that were a bit slow but that's to be expected. I think it's even better then the original. It was a bit more gory than I would have expected, the whole babysitter thing in the closet rocked! Day 28 was amazing too, I loved it. Okay guys, bash away. Just remember, I didn't give it an "A," I only gave it an "A-"

Hotel Rwanda

Wow. This film is a really honest and heartbreaking look at the Rwanda genocide. The fact that hardly anyone took action during this crisis is disgusting. Nevertheless, the movie is excellent, and is sure to touch hearts everywhere.

Bad Education is perhaps the most ingenious, best-plotted film I've seen from last year. The story is seriously even more perfectly woven than Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Grade later.

Kung Fu Hustle- A

WOW. Kung Fu Hustle is the most fun I've had at the movies since way back in Summer 03 when Bad Boys II was released. This baby is a complete thrill ride from beginning to end. The fight scenes are absolutely incredible, and the whole movie feels like a live action cartoon. Overall, you have got to see this perpetual visual spectacle of wire fu meets CGI. =D>

Alive: B+
Speaking of Fearless and horrible plane crashes, we rented Alive last night. I thought I'd seen it before, but I realized I hadn't when I couldn't remember anything about it while watching it. It was a really good film, I found. It's the true story of of a charter plane carrying about 40 people (either members or family of a Uruguayan rugby team) that crash-landed in the middle of the Andes. In order to survive, the survivors of the crash must resort to desperate measures (namely cannibalism) to stay alive for over two months. There are a lot of characters, but Ethan Hawke, Josh Hamilton and Vincent Spano are the only three principals. All do fine jobs. Alive is not for the faint of heart. The plane crash sequence is completely terrifying and almost made my heart stop. Although the film is not graphic in its unpleasant theme of cannibalism and deals with it sensitively (this could not be an ignored factor, because it is how these people really did survive in the Andes for 72 days), the subject matter might be enough to turn some away. Anyway, I thought Alive was a gripping movie that will *never* be shown on airplane.
