I mean, obviously it has to do with race, but am I in the wrong?

I'm part of the Christian club at my school and I recently joined the worship team. At one of the rehearsals, people were talking about joining the Gospel choir. I figured, since gospel is a genre largely associated with African Americans, it couldn't hurt to ask about the ethnic makeup of the Gospel choir. Now several weeks later, I was brought aside by the leader of the Worship team and she just now told me this confused her. They now feel hesitant about letting me lead Worship. I assured them I meant no offense and was deeply sorry, and I'm still a part of the team, but is being the only white person in a club not a valid concern?

Well, maybe concern is the wrong word. It wouldn't necessarily upset me, it's just that we live in a world where it's totally okay for other races to make white jokes. I was in a group in school once with an Asian and two Indians and they insulted my intelligence, saying that white people are a young race and lack the wisdom of their cultures.

Yeah I go to church every Sunday and some other days to.

I was on worship team for a couple years and hated it.

I truly believe they meant well. They even prefaced the meeting with "we know this is going to hurt you, and it kills us to do this, but..."
