I don't think it's rumors. They already announced their streaming platform which will have their content exclusively. It's complete profit maximization for them. Though part of why some streaming services are popular right now is that they have lots of option. If everybody starts their own platform people won't be willing to pay $10 a month for each and every platform. So subscription prices will have to go down. I feel like they are doing stuff that could end up harming them down the road. It would be better if they partnered up with an existing platform I think.

Yes that made me really mad when I heard about that. Starting from 2019, Netflix will no longer get any Disney films.

I totally agree, and sadly this looks like the future trend. Every company now is seemingly starting their own streaming service. This will end up as a disaster in the long run. Having so many exclusive and limited streaming services is actually much worse than cable.

I know a couple of people who have stopped downloading movies/TV shows because it's much convenient to have Netflix and Pickbox here for less than 15 euros per month than waste time finding a torrent/download etc. and wait for the download to finish.

I'm guessing the effect is similar everywhere in the world - hence the rapid expansion of subscribers in the whole world for streaming platforms. But once you need to subscribe to a couple of platforms, then go search through them to find what you're looking for if you're unsure who owns it will open the door for another p2p stream/download service where everything will be easily accessible. It's like studios are forcing a full circle on illegal downloading by their stubborn refusal to work together.

Yes exactly. On certain matters, studios never learn it seems.
