"It" $75+ million OW Club (CLOSED)
I finally had a club success with the La La Land $100/150+ million club, and I wanna go big again. This would be an insane number for a horror flick, but it's already making some insane hype for a horror flick. The trailer on YouTube has been viewed nearly 7 million times in only 12 hours, and the video on the movie's official Facebook page has been shared over 1.7 million times, a level of sharing reserved only for sappy support-the-troops posts. This seems to be tapping into some hardcore nostalgia for the original novel/miniseries, and I think that kind of hype can get infectious if applied right, especially since it'll be opening after a fairly event-free August.

I'm in. That trailer was so effective they probably could have gotten away with not releasing it until august

Re: "It" $75+ million OW Club
Not a chance. Interest will have faded by then, which means they will release more spoilery trailers that show the crappy-ness of the film. Buzz will fade. I still think it can reach $100m total, though. But $75m opening is blockbuster level.

Re: "It" $75+ million OW Club
Tough call. With a PG-13 rating I would have said yes 100%, even 80m+ or 90m+ because it would have multi-generational appeal, with families and teens seeing it as a young adult fantasy/sci-fi/horror adventure film, and adults since they grew up with the original.
But with the R rating I'm not so sure. I think something in the $50m-$60m range is more likely. An R rated film that's essentially a kids adventure is not something Hollywood has really done before. The potential for a HUGE opening is there because it's a well known brand, it looks good, and scary clowns are relevant right now.

Nah bro. I see $60M at best and I'm not even jumping on that train yet until we get another trailer. I'm very interested to see if they can maintain this momentum over summer though.

Previous September OW record is $48.4m I don't think it can jump THAT much.

Re: "It" $75+ million OW Club
How much views in general does Facebook has? I don't think that is too reliable though specially with Facebook playing the video on its own when you are near the video.

I don't trust the Facebook view numbers in general (for reasons you mention), but that's still the highest number of views I've ever seen on any video on Facebook. And the 2.2 million shares is a firm, concrete number, another figure that I don't think I've ever seen so high. It's doing some unprecedented things here.

I'm in. Horror has been doing great lately and is long overdue to break through the $40-$50m opening weekend ceiling. Selling it as an 80s style adventure will only help bring in many different demographics.
