 Re: Kong: Skull Island
One thing I noticed in the end credits was Toby Kebbell helped with Kong's motion capture. That's pretty cool. Perhaps he is the next Andy Serkis.

I enjoyed this. Good monster fun. But some of the acting was... not good.
B+ or so

 Re: Kong: Skull Island
It's a fun monster movie, but there's not any excellence happening here.
The best part is John c Reilly. The worst part is the score.

 Re: Kong: Skull Island
Another thing I really liked is how they built the world by showing Kong patrol. It shows us what his normal day would be like without helicopters.

 Re: Kong: Skull Island
Kong is very fun, a monster movie well done. The film has a great start and deals excellent with the anticipation to Kong's second appearance. After that knowing to expect more monsters the film didn't stay as enticing. The action is cool throughout and it's cinematography and color palette make it feel like an excellently shot video clip with a good cast. No-one really stands out but everyone looks very good. It opts to go the way of dazzling visually over soaking you in drama. I can't it was the wrong choice but it also left me feeling a bit careless about the story. It's very good popcorn entertainment overall.

I found her to be even worse in this. At least in the Great Wall I found her to be having a purpose, she could have not been in Kong and it wouldn't have mattered at all.

 Re: Kong: Skull Island
Thank goodness it's much shorter than the 2005 King Kong. It's really pretty and the action and cinematography are pretty darn mesmerizing. The visual effects are great. It doesn't really strive for anything more than that though.

 Re: Kong: Skull Island
Recently revisited this and while I do rate it slightly better than before its still not entirely great. Loads of good actors were wasted here, SLJ and the big Skullcrawler as villains aren't as menacing.
