What's the worst conversation you've ever had?

In my case, it's a number of them actually, and all of them involve God.

Basically, He doesn't pick up, never ever answers, doesn't really show much excitement or give any evidence that he cares, and always forces me to accept the charges! You know how far heaven is???? No wonder you pay with your life to get there, if you get there!

Satan, on the other hand, is easy to get in touch with. Actually, you can touch yourself and..ok, nm.

Anyways, how about you?

Oh man, some with my now ex's have been just brutal, some from just one side, sometimes from both. No conversations are worse then break ups/conversations about said break up.

I was having a nice conversation with this good-looking girl, until I mentioned that I'm not a liberal...

For the record, she was a UPenn grad.

Mine as well - EXCEPT it's Christians I debate with. Christians are smart but the ones I talk too sadly are extremely ignorant and I keep my repeating myself. I just quit debating religion all together because of it.

On a very serious note, and I have no reason to believe that my posts give an indication of this, but recently, it has become more and more difficult to hold decent, and long-lasting conversations on a number of issues, especially concerning religion and literature.

I did have a great one recently where I spoke with those other guys about Milton's Paradise Lost, Dante's Comedy, Nietzsche, Hegel, Marx, Kant, the Bible, T.S. Eliot and much else, and it was amazing that it lasted for 1 1/2 hours. We basically each quoted a number of phrases and lines, even passages, from those texts, and didn't stop for the other ones to explain what we were talking about.

It's really difficult to state, for example, what the connection between Moses and Jesus is when people don't even know that Joshua is Jesus' Hebrew name! It's frustrating!

Also, I would say my ideas are approaching the point where they have become alarmingly radical, with respect to both traditional religious doctrine, and atheism/gnosticism. I really don't belong anywhere right now.

BOR-ING!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, though, it is incredibly difficult in this day and age to have a great conversation about anything with anyone. People have grown accustomed to AIM style chats, where you can sum up your feelings with a smiley and change subjects at the drop of a hat.

Makeshift, have you ever been in a situation where you're talking to someone, and you realize that, if the conversation had taken place on online forums and MSN, it would be filled with spelling errors and 'OMG, I luv u!'-type of abbreviations?

I'm beginning to hear 'lol' being actually used in everyday speech *shudders*

That happens to me all of the time.

The worst part of it is when you yourself actually has the urge to say "lol" in everday life. C'mon, admit it - you've wanted to.... *nudge nudge*

That's why I hate it so much: because I always find myself personally giving in! It's teh devil, you know?

Random smiley: :fishing:

Oh, one word of advice to everyone: don't talk as if you're reading from a book. Using Thee and Thou is NOT cool or funny! As I learned the hard way

If they did then yep, they'd be in some of the worst conversations ever

I absolutely hate religion, so many of them would be with the other talking about God or whatever and I'm just going "yep," "cool," you know? I really hate those.

Movies35,

True Story Ahead...

Received this call from some whacko caller. Not just the religious type which is fine. But, a religious whacko. This lower lifeform called like 10 times a day. Reported this person to the authorities. I personally don't care for solicitors to begin with, but this was way out there for my patience. This was about call 3 of the ones actually answered. About 7 went unanswered. I was quite irritated by this point, but tried to remain calm. Never upset the mentally unbalanced if at all possible.

Me: Yeah!!!

Nut: Have you been saved?

Me: Yes. You haven't called in 20 minutes.

Nut: Praise Jesus Child. He loves you. He understands the pain of the willy (?I may be off on my religious terms, but what exactly is the willy?)

Me: Sir, you have called her 10 times today. We have already politely told you that we weren't interested. I am sorry, but at this time we are not able to contribute $1000 to your organization.

Nut: Sinner. Devilish Pig. Your soul shall rot in the fires of hell. Dirty bird. (I guess kind hearted religion goes right out the window after a donation refusal)

Me: I am sorry sir, but flattery won't help.

Nut: Repent. Repent. Repent. You must repent and give $2500 to our church or your family will suffer eternal darkness (Now I would expect such a line from Commonwealth Edison, but not a religious group.) Each repent also gets louder as if we are rehearsing for a Broadway Musical.

Me: Sorry dude. Gotta go and worship the willy.

Click...

This followed with several nasty massages left on the machine over the course of a few days. These came in handy though. Not only were they used by the authorities in defense of this psycho babble nonsense, but they also made for great fun to listen to at the annual Christmas party.
