Re: Moonlight is going to win BP I think LLL lost for being white as much as Moonlight won for being black. It wasn't just BP that showed LLL's weakness as not getting a sound award and losing Editing to Hacksaw were red flags

Re: Moonlight is going to win BP Given that four of the last 5 oscars have had a BP/BD split (though admittedly, Argo is a special case), it may just be that voters are far more open to the prospect. Gravity, The Revenant, and La La Land and far flashier and more "director" flicks than 12 years, Spotlight or Moonlight in any case.

I fully think the Academy just felt it couldn't give it BP given the image it would create.
