Re: Japan Box Office: Weekend Actuals; 2017 Charts Updating!
The actuals are Sat.-Sun. only, but Kizumonogatai's 3-day total isn't available yet (I'll go back and edit it once it is). Sometimes actual figures for films released by small distributors, like Toho Video Division, come in reallllly late.

Corpse wrote: @kireilanford: Japanese weekend/weekly rankings are in terms of admissions. Yo-Kai Watch 3, quite impressively, managed to rise to the #1 spot in its fourth weekend this past weekend in terms of ticket sales (so it'll continue the series' streak of #1 weekend rankings); however, it actually only ranked 4th in terms of revenue due to its very low avg. ticket price. Resident Evil repeated for a third-consecutive week at #1 in revenue.
I'll have the Weekend Actuals posted in an hour or two. Corpse, thanks for the clarification. Anyway, here www.kogyotsushin.com/archives/alltimeYour Name is at 22.92 billion, but from your list it is 22.795. Usually, it's the same number?

Re: Japan Box Office: Weekend Actuals; 2017 Charts Updating!
A lot of figures as of Monday were released this week, likely due to the holidays delayed actuals yesterday. ¥22.92 billion ($218.3 million) is its total as of Monday.

With IMAX release this weekend, Your name is probably going to regain the top position, if that happens then how long it can stay at the top? Both Jan and Feb seem to be bit weak IK it's still early, but what's your prediction for SAO:ordinal scale considering its huge fan base?

I wish it was sooner, if it's true. I don't see anything confirmed on the Funimation site, though.

I'll have the Weekend Forecast up soon. Sorry for the slight delay tonight, still trying to recover completely from this cold.

Re: Japan Box Office: Weekend Forecast (01/14-15)
Weekend Forecast (01/14-15) 01 (03) ¥261,000,000 ($2.3 million), +08%, ¥23,350,000,000 ($221.9 million), Your Name. (Toho) WK21 02 (---) ¥250,000,000 ($2.2 million), 0, ¥250,000,000 ($2.2 million), Honnouji Hotel (Toho) NEW 03 (01) ¥183,000,000 ($1.6 million), -36%, ¥3,675,000,000 ($31.8 million), Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (Sony) WK4 04 (02) ¥159,000,000 ($1.4 million), -37%, ¥4,150,000,000 ($36.0 million), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Disney) WK5 05 (04) ¥119,000,000 ($1.1 million), -47%, ¥3,000,000,000 ($25.9 million), Yo-Kai Watch: The Movie 3 (Toho) WK5 06 (---) ¥115,000,000 ($1.0 million), 0, ¥115,000,000 ($1.0 million), Sentai Zyuohger vs. Ninninger: Super Sentai's Message (Toei) NEW 07 (05) ¥109,000,000 ($950,000), -35%, ¥7,025,000,000 ($62.2 million), Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Warner Bros.) WK8 08 (10) ¥108,000,000 ($940,000), +41%, ¥1,300,000,000 ($11.3 million), In This Corner of the World (Tokyo Theaters, Co.) W10 09 (06) ¥74,000,000 ($645,000), -38%, ¥2,050,000,000 ($17.6 million), A Man Called Pirate (Toho) WK6 10 (07) ¥52,000,000 ($455,000), -49%, ¥1,150,000,000 ($10.1 million), The Mole Song 2: Hong Kong Crazy Uproar Song (Toho) WK4
So, after outlasting everything released over the past 5 months, is Your Name. going to recapture the #1 spot in its 21st weekend of release? It's looking doable, though Toho's own, Honnouji Hotel, is proving to be a major contender for the top spot. Also, even if Your Name. "only" rises to rank in second place this weekend, it's going to achieve the biggest 21st weekend of all-time, ahead of Spirited Away, by a significant margin (likely over 100%).
And, if it reclaims the #1 spot this weekend, it'll earn its 13th non-consecutive (9-consecutive) weekend atop the box office.

They didn't. But more impressively, if it increases again, it'll be its 6th weekend increase over the past 7 weeks. Its 21st weekend could be its biggest since its 12th weekend, too.

Re: Japan Box Office: WKND Forecast (Your Name To Recapture
The Oscar nomination predictions are already kicking and from I read at several sites seems that it would be a huge surprise for them if Your Name enter the official nomination.
The announcement will be made tonight if i'm not mistaken.

It's bound to get an nomination after winning at LAFCA, even Disney can't ignore the fact that Moana got wrecked by YN in almost every Asian market Announcement for what?

Forget it, I misremember the date of announcement (24th not 14th)
Anyway the voting for nominees has just closed.
And i'm not familiar with Cannes, in its influence toward Oscar. From what I read from one of those award prediction, the red turtle has an edge due to it winning the Cannes, I believe it was before Your Name was out.

Re: Japan Box Office: WKND Forecast (Your Name To Recapture
Your Name retain top position at South Korea.
US$ 17.2 M after two weeks, so; 1st weekend US$ 8.1 M (5d + 2d preview), 2nd weekend US$ 9.1 M (7d). For comparison, Frozen collected US$ 22 M after two weekend, but not until 3rd weekend when it grabbed another super impressive week-to-week increase (US$ 20 M) that decided the excellent run it had experienced.
Still, early expectation of US$ 30 M pretty much doable, unless the next two (I guess) highly anticipated local movies swept away the majority of screens that they needed.

Re: Japan Box Office: WKND Forecast (Your Name To Recapture
YN will positively cross the $30 M mark by this month and when that happens, $40 M lifetime is quite approachable from there and even with the release of Moana this weekend, it didn't affect YN in the slighest and it performed as it was predicted to be. Talking about local films, are those anticipated ones? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5311514/rel ... de=desktopAlso, any update from Vietnam? It seem like 7th April is the official date for US release

Re: Japan Box Office: WKND Forecast (Your Name To Recapture
I don't really have much information besides what Olive said, from what i know there's "Confidential Assignment" and "The King", after i checked both are going to be released Wednesday this week, and they seem to be starred by Korean's popular actors. And i'm not really familiar with Korean pop to begin with And i've also posted similar information about Your Name US release date, with different source (bom). There's nothing in Funimation page yet, though. edit: Weekend ranking is out, Honnouji Hotel take the top spot with 205 million, Your Name 2nd with 170 million. Then it's Resident Evil, Sentai Zyuohger vs. Ninninger: Super Sentai's Message and Yokai Watch, in 3rd, 4th and 5th place, respectively. Your Name total 23,225,000,000. Anyway, since there's no gross information besides the top two, i don't know if position 3-5 is on admission-wise or gross-wise. Let's wait for Corpse.

Re: Japan Box Office: WKND Forecast (Your Name To Recapture
I was going through their trailers and both looks pretty dope tho, might take over half of the screens, who knows, Yes I saw your post and now even IMDB kept the exact same date, I think Funimation will confirm it by 24th of this month, they're just waiting for the nominees result. The IMAX release for YN is limited? Anyway thanks for the info So finally today official news are coming that YN surpassed SA as the highest grossing anime film of all time, but that happen in december almost a month back and I possibly don't get how's the WW collection sum upto $290 M, when it's already over $320M, every sites are going with current exchange rates instead of weekly. http://comicbook.com/anime/2017/01/16/k ... film-ever/
