LOL at Passengers. Even being beaten by Assassin's Creed.

TRAGIC for Passengers.
So that $20m was totally wasted on JLaw then. What a disaster. A debacle for the ages.

 Re: early Wednesday #s
Assassin's Creed will be frontloaded and Passengers will not, but this seems like it will rule out a $100M+ total for Passengers.
It's worth noting, before people rush to make judgments on anything's performance yet, we have a long haul ahead of us for the next 2 weeks.

That's really great for Sing. If we use Tintin's multiplier, $300m+ total is in play.

Starpower obviously isn't enough in 2016 when the stench of mediocrity surrounds a movie.

So star-studded space drama isn't equivalent to printing gold? Solaris could have told them that.
If you wanna print gold just throw various cute animated things at the screen.

 Re: early Wednesday #s
I won't write out Passengers yet. It will have a good amount of female appeal and people could catch up with it once break officially starts for everyone. Obviously it won't be huge but at the moment I still think it should reach 100 Million.

 Re: early Wednesday #s
RTH provided an update.
R1 about 15, Sing 11, Ass 4.5, Pass 4.1, Moana 2.2.
Moana fell hard as expected with Sing opening.

Because their films are more often mediocre/bad than they are not.

I do not watch most of the Japanese animation, thus I cannot judge their quality, thus it does not annoy me.

Wow, that's bad for Passengers. DL/Tracking was way off the mark on that one, perhaps putting too much stock in its starpower.
Awesome for Sing - at least it's far better than Minions.

 Re: early Wednesday #s
Not that I've seen Passengers, or trust reviews all that much, but when the complaints are about the story and its creepiness etc. I'm glad it has bombed.
The trailer was already overwhelmingly underwhelming that failed to differentiate it from the wealth of early 2000s wannabe blockbusters, and it could only be saved by a good story or at least an element of fun, both of which it seems to not have.
Too bad that means Star Wars makes more money- an equally stupid, waste of an idea lapped up by the undiscerning masses.
Hopefully La La Land, Patriot's Day and Fences amongst others do well.

Illumination is the new Dreamworks now that Dreamworks is starting to go down in numbers.
