is Disney kidding with the Pirates 5 and Cars 3 release dae
Pirates 5 one week before Wonder Woman and then The Mummy right after?
Cars 3 one week before TF5 and then Despicable Me (one of the biggest animated franchises) right after
If they were smart they would move Cars 3 to Memorial Day and Pirates to August
I think Disney doesn't really care for these series anymore and are basically trying to "wash themselves" of them. Makes sense since they have Marvel and Star Wars

Well, they are just going with the normal release dates for the respective franchises, given or take a week. Cars 2 faced a TF and a HP film during its first month, so not really something new. They know the films have little chance of surprising on the positive end, so no incentive to fine tune the release date as long as there are summer weekdays to help.

Pirates is fine. It was always going to drop 55% anyway,
Cars 3 is fine against TF, but DM will kill it like DM2 did MU.

Yeah, Pirates is just for international money at this point. Might not hit 150 million in the states. I'm thinking Apocalypse numbers. Cars at least has the DM3 coming off of two weaker films.

DM2 and and more importantly Minions. Granted they don't belong in the same breath, as DM2 while a step down, no families are going to care.
Both Cars and Cars 2 have their audience, despite both being bleh films to me.

DM2 was very very well-received.

Dr. Lecter wrote: DM2 was very very well-received. Yes, but it was an inferior film. And we don't know how Minions will effect it. Point being, Cars has the more Trump American audience that are down for it. Doesn't really matter when it's released. It's gonna drop off no matter what.

The dates aren't that bad.
Honestly since August is empty they could put Cars there.

Yes, Disney is kidding. They're renowned for their scheduling sense of humour.

Re: is Disney kidding with the Pirates 5 and Cars 3 release
It wouldn't surprise be if DM3 has a pretty big drop from the second (and Minions). I don't know anyone who enjoyed Minions, their kids included. Hell, I saw it with a friend and her five year old and the five year old wanted to leave in the middle of the movie.

Re: is Disney kidding with the Pirates 5 and Cars 3 release
It's really a question if Minions did marked damage to the DM films. I think it did but a funny, effective trailer could erase much of that. If it's not funny, people will think it's going to be just as bad.
