I wonder if holiday legs can push Collateral Beauty past 35 million.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Fences' opening seems incredibly mediocre for such a prestigious, star-driven film in four of the nation's top theatres.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
La La Land performed adequately but I was really expecting a $30K PTA for it. Perhaps it would have outside of a Star Wars weekend.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
You know, Rogue One could reach $600 million. That would top even most of the higher expectations. For this to make more than 60% of TFA's opening is absolutely fantastic.

I don't think it gets that Sunday drop. I don't think the sellouts effect will work here.

If it even sniffs 600m it's huge accomplishment. Right now I'll be thrilled with anything above 500m. the goal is #1 domestic box office of 2016. Eat Dory!!!!!

If Collateral Beauty has P.S. I Love You legs it could do 50 million off this opening. Holiday legs might be very kind to it.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Sunday drops are lower on this weekend and with a big opener it be lower.
Saturday was bad weather and that RO is adult skewing it should be around a 20% drop.
Also RO even with a 3X legs which is the min possibile during X-mas, its at 465 million.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Really solid start for RO. I'm not sure if it will continue to play well with families or have many repeat viewings, but it is Star Wars and it's not like it has that much in terms of competition except maybe Sing which will definitely have more family appeal. I don't see less than $500M, but we'll just have to wait and see. Collateral Beauty was dead on arrival as expected, but I have a feeling it will have decent holiday legs. I'm way more interested to see how La La Land expands though.

 Re: Weekend Estimates
Meh on all those choices, is Bad moms such a surprise? There is always a surprise R rated comedy. I agree that Rogue One is kind of the most uneventful huge film (I haven't seen it yet)
I'd say: Dead pool Dr. Strange The Jungle Book ( I'll never know why, but people seemed surprised) The Legend of Tarzan (had 80 million earner written all over it) And Sully or ID42 (for how bad it did)
I'd put Suicide Squad but that marketing campaign made it hard to say it wouldn't happen
