I hope this is just as good as TFA.

Re: STAR WARS : ROGUE ONE Predictions December 16th 2016
So people who saw Rogue One at the premiere are saying something like 50% of the footages shown in the trailers are not even in the movie. It was the same for The Force Awakens but no where near 50%.

This feels like a 130-140m type opening movie, there is alot of hype but not every person you know cares or wants to see it. Nowhere near 200m+ where that type of marketing permeates every facet possible.

From the trailers I've seen, it seems like the story focuses on the activities of a terrorist group. Is this really the time to celebrate terrorism by releasing this movie right in the heart of Earth's own Galactic Empire?

I don't know if they'll be lost, but I definitely don't think it'll have the same effect if you aren't gaga for the series already. It's a war movie mixed with a massive nostalgia injection. Lots of "Remember that thing/character?!"

Disney is playing down the terrorism aspect of Rogue One: Disney CEO Bob Iger said, “It is not a film that is, in any way, a political film. There are no political statements in it, at all.”

I've honestly never even thought once about any political aspects of Star Wars.Outside of the politics in the prequels of course, but even then my ears tune out

Katharine Trendacosta wrote: It’s impossible to look at any Star Wars film and not realize that it’s packed full of allusions—some subtle and others really really not—that make it clear that the franchise is saying things about what’s good and what’s evil. The Empire is evil in Star Wars, that much is abundantly clear. The mere set-up of a totalitarian state, run by a dictator who has no problems with subordinates being murdered for failure or who approves the building of a space station that can destroy a whole planet, versus a band of rebels trying to restore justice to the galaxy is a political statement. Unless Rogue One isn’t actually about the desperate measures the rebels will take to defeat the Empire, it’s going to be making some sort of political statement. lol. There's always one.

No reviews yet. Not good. I hope my utter disgust for this director will actually make me end up liking it with such low expectations.

For someone supposedly working in the industry, thegun doesn't seem to grasp the concept of NDAs, especially issued by someone like Disney who would come down on you harder than the Galactic Empire if you break them.
That being said, the embargod deadline has been moved up. Expect reviews to drop in 2.5 hours. Which is exactly how much time I have to write mine, so I better get started.

Re: STAR WARS : ROGUE ONE Predictions December 16th 2016
Reviews seem solid enough although some do put emphasis on that it's a film mostly for the fans which could be a problem for broader appeal, but I don't see it getting bad WOM, especially if the third act delivers as much as people are saying. As long as the movie ends on a high note it should be able to capitalize on that.

It ends with an amazing battle, but all the heroes die. It is a bit of a downer in a sense.
