Anybody see the rerelease? How was the 3D?

Movie was epic, first time I have ever left a 3D movie with a headache though, had to take of the glasses multiple times, eyes just could not adjust.

Though Beauty and the Beast is one of Disney's best too.

Saw Lion King 3D last night. First time I got to see TLK on the big screen.

It was magnificent. I had been wary of the conversion to 3D, thinking it'd just look like a ViewMaster, but... damn, I was wrong.

They used some kind of extra cell shading to give a bit of roundness to the characters to give them dimension. It was brilliant.

And it'd been a while since I'd seen the movie. I'd forgotten just how gorgeous the score is. I admit I cried at "Circle of Life" and at Mufasa's death...

Pfft, only the tasteful show respect towards Disney's Hunchback; it's their best hidden gem that's for sure.

Hunchback is amazing. I'd love to see them give it the 3D treatment and re-release like they have for TLK.

I rarely see movies in 3D, but The Lion King (3D) utilized it better than any previous movie I've seen. It was gorgeous.

9.5/10

Didn't care for the 3D. It's such a beautiful and colorful film, and wearing the glasses just makes it darker, without any effective use of the 3D technology.

But, overall, it was EPIC to see this on the big screen again.

If this was not a musical it would probably my all time #1 animated movie. As is, it's still pretty amazing and timeless. A+

The music is what makes a Disney classic.

I don't find the animation that goes along with the music endearing. Toccata and Fugue in D Minor is just flashing colors.

Very overrated movie. Other Disney movies are better. Scar is great. Simba sucks, I always root for Scar to win. Be Prepared is awesome, as is Circle of Life. Hakuna Matata is annoying, Can You Feel the Love Tonight is schmaltzy and saccharine, and "I Just can't Wait to Be King" is Disney's worst "I Want" song from the renaissance. The film is not bad really, but I don't see how anyone could prefer it over Beauty and the Beast. Maybe this isn't girly? That's the explanation I can think of.

Yes, this movie not being girly is the reason it is one of the most loved animated movies of all time.

Considering your posts in the political threads, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. :D

Also, Pumbaa's main character trait is that he is flatulent and no one bats an eye. Jar Jar steps in poop once and everyone loses their minds.

Well, the other characters in The Lion King are animals. They're used to disgusting behaviour. Jar-Jar is mixing it with humans.

Never really thought all that much of this one tbh.

The intro and stampede sequences are both amazing, though.

Definitely a great film, not my personal favorite as I can’t get into the soundtrack and I preferred the fairy tales. Scar is again a great villain. Simba is a weak protagonist, the movie would be better if he died instead of Mufasa tbh. The movie is best before Mufasa dies. After that, it doesn’t quite have the same momentum. And the finale is a little underwhelming IMO. The whole Scar tricks Simba into believing he killed Mufasa is never quite believable.
