The characters of Ned and Olivia always used to go on dates to action/superhero movies. After all this is 2016 - soap storylines haven't remained in the 50's. With them getting back together, this scene is an entirely natural character beat.

This happens all the time on shows on Freeform, The CW and MTV and it's awful and shameless.

See below...

This is also not promoting a movie but it's the worst example of something like this I've ever seen in my life.

This is a good example of shameless product placement, but done well:

If it's done well, it ain't shameless. I think that clip was done rather well. So it's not shameless. I have nothing against product placement. It is a legitimate marketing tool. But 99% of the time, marketers and production staff don't have a natural way of delivery, so it looks shoehorned in. But when it works, it can work very well, and it is often memorable.

Chippy's clip is good. But the rest are cringe-worthy.

The General Hospital clip that is the subject of this thread works and is memorable for those who follow the show - it's a long running storyline that is integral to the characters' relationship. It would work for members of a movie discussion forum too, if they ever had a regular date to take to the cinema. No one here has ever looked forward to seeing an upcoming movie with their movie-loving lover? Or do you all always go to movies by your lonesome?

Fair enough, but can you understand how some couples share their love of movies?

What? lol. Sure. But most couples are not declaring their love of specific, soon-to-be-released movies in-front of a camera and then broadcast across the country. It is product placement, and it is shameless.

What's really shameless is your self-contradiction. :funny:

No. Both comments are referring to different clips.

Your attempts at playing dumb are tiresome, because you're too obviously intelligent.

Only one section in your earlier quote was related to another specific clip.

The rest of your post supports this type of product placement when it is well done.

I imagine you're not a fan of General Hospital - but for those people who are, this one is well done, works perfectly and is memorable.

If I'm too intelligent, why waste posts on trying to catch me out on a contradiction?

Obviously it is not a contradiction, and it is clear to see that I disagree the General Hospital placement is well done. So that solves your confusion.

My apologies, I was mistaken about your intelligence.
