Re: Actors/Actresses to get 8(+) Oscar noms in their lifetim
Updating this after nine years have passed (counting acting nominations only)...
Kate Winslet won on her 6th nomination and then just kinda...stopped. Still think she can get two more before the end of her career.
DiCaprio is up to five now and I am sure he'll crack 10 eventually.
Yeah, Russell Crowe won't happen.
Judi Dench is up to seven now. She can make it, I think. The Academy loves her.
Cate Blanchett will definitely make it. She's up to seven now, having been nominated four times since my first post.
Michael Caine...probably not. Doesn't seem to be playing Oscar-y roles anymore.
Denzel Washington is up to six noms, he'll make it.
Robert De Niro needs one more and after working with David O. Russell he seems to be playing better roles. He can do it.
Daniel Day-Lewis will get there if he makes three more films in his career, heh.
Jeff Bridges is only two nominations away and he could get one for Hell or High Water. He can do it.
Of the younger lot, Jennifer Lawrence will obviously get there. She's at four already. I believe Amy Adams will too.

She got one last year for Steve Jobs, so just needs one more. Should have no problem getting there.

Jeez, completely forgot that. Fassbender was all that was on my mind during the film.

I wonder if Meryl gets to 24 nominations (she's at 19 now). That would qualify her for this club 3x over and be 2x as many as anyone else lol (Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson each have 12 nominations).

She will. However, Blanchett or Lawrence might get to more than 12 before she gets to 24.

I didn't realize Bridges has so many
Amy Adams is a good bet to get over 8

So Denzel will get his 7th this year, and Hanks should have his 6th. Among the younger generation, Emma Stone will have her second in 3 years, and given the range of films she's been in, she could start making a move.

Think the last couple of snubs will help, and this year's competition is a little weaker than either 2013 (a packed lineup) and 2015 (only Cranston was the weak link), as he is basically in that 4th spot right now after Casey/Denzel/Gosling.

She is still far away (3rd this year) but I get the feeling Viola will get a lot of nominations in upcoming years.
Judi Dench is playing Queen Victoria in a Stephen Frears film. Cash.

Well, not anymore. Mortensen and Garfield are clearly ahead of Hanks in the race now.
