Cows will still be killed. He didn't save a cow. Suffering is unavoidable and humans eat meat just like most other animals. What's the problem with eating meat?

There's no problem with it. It's your prerogative to put whatever you want in your body for whatever reason. I just personally choose not to put meat/dairy products in my body for a multitude of reasons. Neither of us should be condemned for our decisions.

Phew, you aren't some whacko PETA-Nazi, like most vegetarians I know of.

True. I could care less what anyone does with their lives, if it makes them happy. But once you start shoving it down someone else's throats, then I get a bit peeved. All the more power to people, if they want to.

Precisely what I think.

I used to be. I used to be very hostile towards a lot of different people, though. Religious people. Gun nuts. You name it, I accosted them. Then, I grew up a little, and realized people are more likely to listen to you (and possibly change their mind) when you're not a total dick. If they have questions, i'll answer them. But i'm not going to run in with guns blazing.

That's why becoming a vegan is such a major lifestyle change, because as well as adjusting your eating habits, you also have to learn how to cook quite extensively so you don't bore yourself to death.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get get some nice, big, juicy, smoking, real burgers fresh off the grill.

I personally don't think eating just vegetables or tofu is healthy, much like just eating fatty foods is healthy. Most vegetarians I know look like they spent a few weeks at Auschwitz.

It's your perogative, but I find it best to eat both.

The only problem I see with the vegan diet is that meat is very very crucial for a child and teens. Peanuts, tofu, wheat etc dont provide the same nutrients as meat where it strengthen your bones and help you grow otherwise you will always remain under 5'8" if you dont eat any meat. Thats my whole quarrel with it, its fine if you are an adult and you no longer rely on meat anymore except to grow some extra hair on parts of your body that you dont want (feet and back).

Your friends aren't on a correct vegetarian diet if they look like that. A good vegetarian diet should still consist of about 1,800-2,000 calories a day. There's just very little fat, cholesterol... you know, all of that hot stuff.

And that's why i'd never put a child on a vegan diet. I also think that, because it's such an important decision, you should make it on your own. Obviously a young child could not do that.

I don't necessarily find a problem with shoving a mesage down someone's throat. I mean, sure, I get pissed at the Mormons who would knock at 11 PM. Or, the Jews for Jesus that stood outside metro stations last summer. But, thing is, if there weren't outside groups, the public would be sooo easily manipulated (we'd have conversation, tv, movies, etc). Some groups help the "stupiderer" become more aware... Now, the mormons and Jews for Jesus aren't really preventing ME from knowing something, but other groups do and if it requires fierce campaigning, I'm all for it, even if I don't agree with their particular message.

BTW, Jon. Is there some reason why all of your jokes have to do with Nazi Germany? It's kinda...sick?

If you didn't want to be "funny," you wouldn't have compared it as you did. You could've just said..."skinny."

Still, it seems like every post of yours has either Nazi, Auschwitz, Concentration Camp, or some jibberish in German in it.

Is that all you get out of my posts? Seriously.

Ok, how about this one:

"They look like they have been riding on the New Ethiopian Tribesman Diet."

You know, if I were an asshole, I'd have the same opinion.

So you are saying eating meat makes you an asshole? When will people learn suffering is unavoidable and acknowledging this fact does not make you an "asshole"? I don't mind people being vegetarians (although I'd die before I become one) but calling someone an asshole because we think it's natural to eat meat? Tigers, Lions, Sharks, Bears, reptiles, they eat meat and even make the other animal suffer, so why can't humans?

No, I never said that. I meant that being an unconcerned, selfish bastard makes you an asshole.

Hey, listen, do you mind if I come over this weekend and kill all your pets? And all the neighbor's pets too? Hey, what's the big deal? They're so stupid they won't even mind. After all, I get enjoyment out of it, and in my selfish little mind, that's the only important thing. For that matter, I understand there are some retarded kids on the block as well. I think I'll knock them off as well and they're so dumb they won't even notice. Who cares if they feel pain? The only concern I have is how dumb they are. Suffering is unavoidable, so what's the big problem?

Ok, I misread the thread title a bit. Here's how I read it:

w00t! Making vegan dinners for meat, eating friends, rules!

I was worried about makeshift's friends for a second.

I have a friend, Alida, who is a vegan because she absolutely refuses to be any part of the resource wasting industry. She's also incredibly hot. Correlation? Hmmm. (kidding, of course)

I have another friend who is a vegetarian because he quite simply just detests the smell and taste of meat. He can't stand it. Taste buds, to each his/her own.

So basically, congrats makeshift! I didn't know you were a vegan. That rocks. I love vegans. I don't know if I could ever do it, but I would love to try.

PEACE, Mike ;)

I have an honest question for vegans who are vegans because they think its cruel to animals...Whats the difference than killin millions of potatoes...or millions of trees for paper...or other types of growin veggies?
