I'm watching the movie this Friday. Hence no review. I don't copy/paste other's opinions like some here do. And not seeing the movie doesn't mean I can't comment on the review itself. Grow up.

You did comment on what I thought about the movie, which you couldn't/shouldn't have if you haven't seen the movie I am talking about "the shark finale" and "marine biologist" (What the fuck does that mean anyways, do you really have to be marine biologist to know that??) comment.

Yeah, no. I didn't like this one at all. My biggest problem with these kinds of movies is - if you're going all the way to be as real as possible, then don't fuck it up. And they do fuck it up. A lot. They go all the way to have a character that was a medical student which is so lucky cause she will know what to do with the wound. And she has just the right amount of needle/hook like jewelry to somewhat help her close the wound. Sure, OK, I can believe that.

Then she just sits on a rock for 40-50 minutes. OK, still good.

Then the final act comes where they realized - oh how are we going to get her out? Yeah, step aside logic. You don't matter anymore. While the death of the shark was cool, she should've been dead. Ears popped, hemorrhage - pretty much drowned on spot.

Also I laughed like crazy at what was probably the worst CGI effect I've ever seen. Blake Lively's face being put on a stunt double while surfing. It was fucking hilarious to see the face being so badly put on stunt girl's face. It moved so strange and had weird facial expressions.

But not everything was bad. The seagull was fucking aces. Better acting than Blake. He stole the whole show. It would be more thrilling to watch his "sail" towards the shore for the final act than what Blake was doing.

The location where they filmed this is really beautiful. But they did a lame job of filming the tank/pool scenes. It was very obvious which shot was from the location and which one was from the set they've had.

After having seen the film, this remark is even more pointless and completely wrong. So yeah, no. You can't put legal rights on a beach name. Those cannot be trademarked.

And it has been more than implied why they didn't tell her the beach name, despite her asking multiple times. It was a conscious decision by the makers of the movie not to put the exact location on the map for the viewers to pinpoint it. Whether it was to give movie a more mysterious/adventurous tone or for some other reason, doesn't matter. It's on purpose.

This was just a tense and good experience. I liked it a lot, Lively is just great, and it's very well shot too. The score pulsates the film and kept me at the edge of my seat for the most part. Everything works very well, Serra did a very good job. The film sets itself up well and finishes with a lot of satisfaction too. I can add this to one of the better films of the summer.

The Shallows

This is a really good film. Quite intense, cleverly shot, awesomely tempting the audience at times, and a super cool finale. Seriously, the way she kills the shark is imaginative and super cool. She is quite resourceful, and she doesn't have much to work with! Blake Lively makes the film. She is super sexy, and she provides the right boob shots at the right time, and the right ass shots too, and for a skinny girl that is a feat! There were times when she wasn't great, but that was largely due to the script. Otherwise she is good. There were things I did not like; the soppy Hollywood "one year later" ending, the attempted link between the seagull and her medical education, her talking to herself as if she is operating on a patient, and the subtle feminist/anti-male undertone. But these were minor. The film is really entertaining. The glimpses of the shark are few-and-far-between, ramping up the tension, and when you do see him it delivers a punch.

Open Water is great, but this is probably the best shark film since Jaws.

This film has grown on me over the years, its a pretty good shark film and since I saw this before Jaws I like this a little better, even though the second half of Jaws is MUCH better than this movie. Blake Lively is good and sexy in here, she really carries this movie.
