Good things do not happen when Fincher directs other people's sequels.

No way that actually happens, when I think about it. It will go the way of 20,000 Leagues, Cleopatra and Mission: Impossible III.

This seems beneath the David Fincher of 10+ years ago, let alone today.

He probably has a thing for zombie movies and this is the only chance to direct a big budget zombie movie.

Hopefully not. Would be a waste of his talents. We need another Fincher original film.
BTW - whatever happened to his Black Hole movie?

This one really took me by surprise. It seems akin to announcing that Nolan would be directing a Fast and the Furious movie.

Re: David Fincher in talks to direct World War Z 2!!
I wonder why Marc Forster didn't want to direct the sequel to his biggest hit? Probably just as well with his first movie since WWZ (All I See Is You) set to come out this Fall. He's an underrated though unpredictable director.

He and the studio did not exactly get along on the first.

The first is barely OK, I definitely am not waiting for a sequel. David Fincher makes it super interesting though.

If he did do it it would probably be fantastic. But I can't see it. It would be a waste of his talent. If he's going to make a sequel it should be to his Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

He must feel a bit stupid for not finishing something that he started, regardless of whose fault it is or isn't.

Re: David Fincher in talks to direct World War Z 2!!
To be honest the first book is the best one. And financially speaking the sequels would probably do much worse. So I completely understand that the series was never finished.

Surprisingly badly filmed. And it just got worse with every new sequel.

Here's the conclusion from Roger Ebert's review: Quote: This is not a deep psychological study. But it's a sober, grown-up film. It has action, but not the hyperkinetic activity that passes for action in too many American movies. It has sex, but not eroticism. Its male lead is brave and capable, but not macho. Its female lead is sexy in the abstract, perhaps, but not seductive or alluring. This is a movie about characters who have more important things to do than be characters in an action thriller.

I love the originals. The first is the best. Great trilogy all-in-all. No need to watch the Daniel Craig one.
