Transformers 1, that is. Everyone thinks TF2-4 suck. But it seems to me that there is a huge discrepancy between the critical "meh" opinion of the film and the audience opinion, which drove TF2 to a near record opening. Is Transformers a great film that critics just didn't understand? It really seems to be the only film (outside of Twilight, which is completely driven by fans) with mixed to negative critical reaction to inspire such excitement for a franchise. I personally don't like it that much, and don't understand why it is so much better liked than similar films TMNT and G.I. Joe.

I don't hate it. It's passable entertainment. But these Transformer films are too indistinguishable from one another.

1 was awesome (it was that pirates, back to the future, men in black vibe)
2 was Ok ish but had the "Shia ruined Indy and the hand" mess
3 was just awful, and the Megan fox, Bay is a nazi crap. McDreamy might be the worst Villian ever.
4 haven't seen, I'm sure whalburg did his best.

The sound of cars transforming was cool, but at the end the movies on there own were bad and nothing else was good to remember. Shia in the first was so charismatic that You forgot. By the third film all you would do is just eye roll at him

I liked it when it was released. Haven't seen it since but I thought it was a nice throwback to 80s/90s blockbusters and still rate it hightly.

The second film on the other hand was terrible.

The third was passable but the 4th i haven't seen.

I think the first is a blast and I still stand by that. The others - not so much.

As far as king as big dumb crazy action movies go, Bay is King. So you always that you'll get something worthwhile.

The first Transformers is still great. The three sequels aren't if you watch them in whole, but they're good to watch it 30-40 minute bits on cable.

Revenge of the Fallen is not only one of the worst movies I've ever seen, it ruined my own perception of the first movie (which I had previously thought was a solid summer blockbuster, exactly what it aimed to be).

Michael Bay. And it is a movie about big dumb robots fighting. That right there turns a lot of people off. The reason why I think it's as high as 57% though is because of the Spielberg influence. The boy and his car/alien/robot aspect is charming, a word you can rarely use regarding a Michael Bay film.

I think Jurassic World is fresh because it's entertaining, and unlike Transformers, has a real charismatic lead (though Shia isn't really called on to have the same performance) and fun secondary characters (Lauren Lapkus and Jake Johnson - compared to Jon Voight and John Turturro and dumb talking robots).

1 (from what I remember) was bloated but fun enough.

2-4 are traaaaaash.
