Will WOKJ's total post count top BOM's?
I've been thinking about it recently and I think there is a good chance that it will happen eventually.
All deleted posts/topics aside the total posts count of the BOM boards stands at 1,025,674 at the moment while WOKJ's is 203,028. Of course BOM is far ahead right now, but you have to consider that BOM has been in existance for almost three years soon while WOKJ was mostly born last October. Besides that, since the mass exodus last October, BOM barely gained 25,000 posts, I think (or even less than that). WOKJ, however, increased by over 200,000 posts. Unlike the previous outrages at BOM, this time, it doesn't seem to have recovered from the exodus. WOKJ's post increase is stable. In average WOKJ gets 1,000-1,500 posts a day and with the summer coming up, I see the daily number possibly going up to 2,000. BOM, on the other hand is mostly a ghost town and is lucky to get 200 posts a day at the moment.
Obviously if this happens, it is not going to happen this year, but if WOKJ can attract more members the current ones stay as regular as they are now, I think that eventually this might happen.
Any opinions?

It'll take time. A few things happening on the site right now. We require more traffic on the site and I do think that oen thing our current members can help with is actually visiting the main site from time to time and reading stuff there as well. The website should not be forum driven with the main site getting no hits at all.

Well, I read it, even though I don't always comment on it. Speaking of the main site...I was reading through AICN's talkback yesterday and someone mentioned WOKJ there and gave some link of WOKJ, heh.

Well, if nothing changes - it will take over a year.
Plus if BOM ever gets a new group of new forum users - possible as their BO news is well known - then it will take that much more than a year.
Best estimate = Close to 1.5 years away.

I suggest one in July and another one in September.

Honestly, we could also use a couple major faux-pas on the president's part. Maybe another war? Also, like Grey Davis, if we could find a way to push up a new election to next year, regardless of who wins, its gonna be a killer post count in the cooler.

We could unhide all previouly hiddened threads so right there is an easy way to get more daily posts.
Plus maybe unhide the hidden MODS threads so that everyone can comment on them.
Then we would be there by July 4th.

Personally, I think now that we've made a successful exodus from BOM, we should not bother comparing otherselves.
Focus on making a successful site, and less on "beating" BOM.

Competiton is good, it is always good. The market wouldn't be nearly as good without competition and since there is something to compete with, why not BOM?

in an effort to get more peopel to look at the front page: Heres a preview for whats in store.
Other than the reviews and stuff (from which I'll be taking a break)
HitchHiker's Guide box office analysis coming up
Kingdom of Heaven box office analysis coming up.
Anticipation lists coming up (in the form of monthly break ups or complete look at the summer)
Those articles are confirmed.
The site will be going through another design update soon, with some new components and features being added so a few more sections may be added in. These sections will focus on providing a much better way of offering news as well as .. hmm .. I'm not sure if Eagle wants everyone to know the rest : )
I've been lazy. The RT Game should be back up soon. Really.

Why not RT, or somethign larger?
Considering the roots of BOM, I think sometimes we dwell on BOM.

I agree with this 100%. I don't care if we ever match BOM's post count, and I don't view post count as an indicator of health of a site, as long as it's being relatively actively used, the actual count doesn't matter because it doesn't distinquish between type/quality of posts or level of sense of community and such.

I agree, the main site has got to be more embraced by the members here. I would be willing to bet that 99% of the members here visit BOM's main site more than they do their own forum's front page. (I am not one of that 99%)
BOM's forums are not going to recover, no matter what denial some of the people over there are in. It's a ghost town, and it's been that way for 6 months now. When that board took off the first time, Sean was not running it, and he wasn't turning people off with his robotics. Also, anybody would be a fool to see all of those total posts, and not realize that something happened to chase all of those members away. It's pretty glaring.
There are things that everybody here could do to promote these forums on the net, but how many have bothered? I know that I have bothered. That's how word spreads, and that's how members join. We can surpass BOM's post count sooner or later, but sitting back and watching won't make it happen soon enough. Being active and promoting the website is the way to go there.

Simply because those are a bit too large and a bit out of reach at this point.

As with RT, I think BOM # is out of reach also.
