 Re: The Hateful Eight
Having seen it for the second time, this is definitely one of last year's best films and better than Django. I firmly believe that in some years it will be re-evaluated as one of Tarantino's finest.

 Re: The Hateful Eight
It probably ties Death Proof as my least favourite Tarantino film but I'll definitely give it a rewatch when it hits blu-ray. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Also a scene where John Ruth asks why the chicken hasn't been fully plucked, and says that a half-plucked chicken is bad luck before ordering Bob to finish. (This gets paid off later when the young woman at Minnie's is killed while plucking the chicken.) I just saw the regular version and the chicken scene was the only distinct difference I could remember. Thanks guys. This helps. I'll still see it in 70mm though as my local theatre looks to still be showing it in that format for another couple of weeks at least.

 Re: The Hateful Eight
Amazing film that just keeps getting better nrepeat viewings. It will go down as one of Tarantino's best, most complete films when time passes.
Only three small gripes:
1. Why was Tim Roth playing Christoph Waltz? 2. Michael Madsen was underutilized 3. The entire plan of Channing Tatum and the others was unnecessarily elaborate, but whatever.

 Re: The Hateful Eight
It would have made more sense if there was a real Oswald played by Waltz who Englsh Pete killed at one point for his identity.

Oswaldo was written for Tim Roth. It's not like the role was offered to Waltz first (or written with him in mind).

 Re: The Hateful Eight
Oh, this was much better than Django Unchained. Walt Goggins was brilliant, and Ennio's score is masterful. This is in the top three Tarantino films with Death Proof and Inglourious Basterds. B+

I imagine Algren is John Ruth the Hangman if he were a Tarantino character

Hard choice to make. None of them are very nice people. Ruth is probably the best.

 Re: The Hateful Eight
This is the first Tarantino film I've watched, and to be honest, the first hour and a half are torture to sit through. So fucking boring. If I watched it again, I'd probably see they're laying clues for the mystery in the second half of the movie. I actually didn't plan to watch the rest, but I'm glad I did. Once Jackson tells Dern about how he raped and murdered his son, it got good, and the rest of the film is thrilling to the end. And it is beautiful to look at and the music is good. I like how it feels like a play; I would love to perform in this. They should totally bring it to Broadway. Could be a Sweeney Todd type show.
First half D Second Half A
The ending was so good I will overlook the terrible beginning almost entirely.

You should watch Pulp Fiction, interested in how you'd like it. Oh, and Kill Bill.

 Re: The Hateful Eight
A "D" first half and an "A" second half gets an average score of an "A-". How does that work?
