Considering WBs slate I doubt they passed opportunity to make sure Creed is eligible. And they probably knew it could play for awards even before they released it.

Fair enough.

Updated first post with the full list. Yeah, The Big Short is the only film to get Picture/Director/Screenplay/Editing and definitely the frontrunner now if we go by here and the guilds.

Actually Bridge of Spies also got Picture/Director/Screenplay/Editing.

So this will be like Golden Globes where The Revenant wins both Best Picture and Best Director to make up for snubbing Birdman last year. That does not correlate to any strength in those two categories for the Oscar vote though.

Seems like a boring list of winners.

Outside of a few categories, these are probably the Oscar winners.

Think the Big Short is probably dead. It could have won either DGA or BAFTA as a prelude to Best Picture but didn't. Oh and it lost SAG too. Spotlight was never in great position to win either DGA or BAFTA due to McCarthy's style and lack of nomination support at BAFTA so its losses might not have been that hurtful to it. For both Big Short and Spotlight their win counts would be a mess if they got Best Picture as well. This is undoubtably the Revenant's race to lose now

The question for me is whether The Revenant is going to steamroll Mad Max: Fury Road in the lower techs OR will the two films split like BAFTA.

The Revenant is winning Best Picture. Eh.

That said, I am praying so hard for Winslet to stop the Vikander train at the Oscars. The Danish Girl does not deserve to be associated with a prestigious award, and we need that Leo/Kate pic at the Oscars where they're both holding their awards.

Even though her accent was um, interesting in Steve Jobs, I would be fine with Winslet winning because A) she should already have two Oscars and B) the Leo photo ops. I suspect enough voters are as shallow as I am for this to be a distinct possibility.

Vikander was in a way inferior flick and it is category fraud, but she was better than Winslet.
