Post Personally, I Liked Mods for Specific Forums Better
I can't say I really like the global moderater thing. Maybe it's just me, but I liked the more personal touch of certain mods for certain forums.

Maybe the personal touch is a nicer idea but when MODS can't be on a 100 % of the time - this way is better especially on an open forum - so that the whole forum is MOD available/protected at all times.

Even at some times in the past, I wondered why the MODS were limited so that so couldn't help out in other areas when/if needed.

The mods are still 100% responsible for their forums. Example: MikeQ with Dvds, Zingaling with 'Everyone's a Critic', Libs with TV.

The global moderation is an idea we thought that might work better for various reasons. Ofcourse, to an extent, it is also a test. Like I said, the mods are still primarily modding their own sections.

Also, Eagle and I were doing quite a bit of modding before but recently have decided to back off a bit and concentrate more on the site. Due to this, each of those sections will end up losing moderation from 2 admins which was another reason for trying out the global moderation thing.

Hope that helps.

That's one of the few times you've ever been right at these forums, Algren. Make sure you mark this day down on your calendar for future reference. :write:

Fred Flinstone is so THE MAN.

But on topic, this way is much better. There's always a mod around for every forum instead of having people like zingaling being a jerk and not going to a certain forum.

DAMN THAT ZINGALING! :swear:

Yes. What's worse is that it took you a good year to figure that out.

Good to have moderators with powers on all boards.

But please remove, if you can, "Moderators: Administrators, Moderators" from index page and forums main pages.

EDIT:

Heh, now it's "Moderating Team" instead of "Moderators". But I didn't have that in mind.

What I meant was, remove whole line, now it's under every forum header on index page, and as it doesn't list mod names, I think it's somehow useless.

One link on top of the page (or bottom, left, right) leading to a moderator list should be enough. And, if possible, adding some description which forums are their "primary" ones.

I like the suggestion for the Moderating Team.

But to Eagle - have you made up the hats and t-shirts yet

I can understand needing to have all mods technically able to mod all forums, so that if only one is online then they can handle some trouble that arises.

But....having said that......having specific mods listed for specific forums like it was up till just recently added some personality to the board that I miss.

Ideally you could go back to having a few specific ones listed per forum but behind the scenes they are all technically capable of accessing them all in case a need arises.

Just giving some feedback in case it helps ~

That's a good idea. If the above is true, that the MODS are still mainly responsible for the same forums - and most people above like the individuals listed.

Why not add the names also to add back the personality.

Like for TV - list Libs (then maybe something generic like ) Backup Mods or Backup help or the above Moderating Team or something else.

In essence, they could be listed 2 times - once individually and onec maybe as part of the group - which doesn't hurt anything.

Obviously, me and some others. It lacks personality, and gives off a more corporate and cold feeling to the forums.

for the sake of the forum there always has to be a mod that's capable of modding the 'whole' forum at all times.
don't risk it.
