 Lateral Thinking Problems
Well, we had one at BOM, so why not over here? I think pretty much of of you (apart from Rusty who is, as usually, lost) know what is going on in this thread, so I don't need to explain it.
I'll start off with mine...
One pint of beer
In a pub, the barkeeper has two containers for liquids. One fits 5 pints and the other one 3 pints. He also has a big cask of beer. What he needs is to end up with one pint of beer in EACH of the containers. However, he is not allowed to use any measurment instruments or any other containers or glasses etc. aside from what he has.
Crack your heads
How can he do that?

Do both of the casks have to have 1 pint of beer at the same time?

Do the containers' physical attributes matter?

The answer probably involves drinking some of it.

Doubt, as you can throw anything you don't need back in cask.

As we're troubling ourselves with Lecter's problem...which I gave up, think it's impossible, or Doc didn't say everything...here's one more.
Krem introduced some of us on mIRC with it.
Petals Around the Rose
Things to know - Name is important and the answer is always 0 or even number.
Oh yes, when (if) you figure it out, don't tell how here.

My problem is not impossible and you are closer to the solution than you think, trust me.

That was disgustingly easy.

Hehe, closer eh?
Anyway, that's my problem, when can't figure it out - it's impossible. And when someone does figure it out, I say they cheated.

But you literally are closer to solving it than others, it seems to me, hehe.

Ok, only way now that I see is to fill first one container with 1 pint, drank it, and again use both to fill other. But that can't be it...right?

Hehe, I am looking forward to your reply.
By the way, this is one of the easier ones that I have, hehe. The harder ones will follow.

I think I got it.
Warning: if you want to figure it out by yourself, don't read below and don't highlight the text.
Here's how we do it. (Here I'll call the containers glasses) First, fill up the 5-pint glass
pour the contents into the 3-pint glass
We should now have 2 pints of beer in the 5 pint glass (whatever is left after filling up the 3-pint glass).
Empty the 3-pint glass and pour the 2 pints from the 5-pint glass to the 3-pint glass
fill up the 5-pint glass.
We should now have the full 5-pint glass and 2 pints in the 3 pint glass.
Now, empty the big container(THE PROBLEM SAID NOTHING ABOUT THAT!).
Pour the contents of the 3-pint glass into the container (2 pints)
Pour beer from the 5-pint glass from the container (7 pints now, and nothing in the glasses)
Fill up the 3-pint glass, we should now have 4 in the container.
Pour the beer from the 3 pint glass to the 5 pint glass
Fill up the 3 pint glass from the container
We now have 3 pints in the 5 pint glass, 3 pints in the 3 pint glass and 1 pint left in the container.
Fill up the 5 pint glass from the 3 pint glass. The 3 pint glass should have 1 pint left.
Empty the 5 pint glass, and pour 1 pint in there from the container.
PROBLEM FUCKING SOLVED.
Lecter, you know owe Unisys corporation at least 20 bucks.

Of course, once I thought of what I was supposed to do it was very easy
Don't laugh, but in the beginning I was thinking of using physics to solve this one.
