I am suspicious of Sahara because it is trying much too hard to look like National Treasure II in it's advertising. And I don't think people will buy.
13M opening
40M total

Damn predicting this movie has gotten hard.
At first i said $30M total....but theres loads of advertising here, and even though the movie looks shite, this could be the type of film people need right now, after the Violent movies/Family films so far.
Emm...god knows....high teens opening now?

I'm going back to my earlier in this thread prediction for Sahara. Nothing to do with yahoo review thread, too early to tell from that anyway, more to do with me talking to my brother and his wife and them saying they want to see it.

I doubt the film will have more than a 20% Saturday increase.
This will be double-frontloaded. It's got a fan-base, plus the Paramount 2nd weekend curse. A 55%+ drop shoulld be expected.

I expect it to have a nice weekend multiplier, and pretty good legs. It's mostly attracting an older audience and a family audience. Hidalgo, National Treasure, and Man on Fire all had good multipliers both for opening weekend, and overall.
BTW, fanbases from books almost never cause frontloading. Only in the cases like HP or LOTR do they.
About 20m this weekend, with about 65m in total.

I saw it tonight with a full house and loved it -- see my review in other forum, and check out my prediction above - opening weekend's gonna be a bit below my estimate -- but this movie's gonna have legs!
$100mil+ easy...

Um, a 5x multiplier? Highly unlikely.

Yeah guys, this is gonna have good legs. WOM seems pretty damn strong and the audience is everything that isn't frontloaded.

The opening weekend will be around $18 million, but there is no way it'll break $70 million in total.

A 13.5% drop on Sunday.
Okay...

It'll settle for a nice $63m.
With DVDs, it won't be such a massive bomb.

It'll have good legs, I'm sure.
But, come on. $100M? Pass the "mary-juanas" when you're done.

I bet it will fall more than 55% next weekend. This will be its highest drop in its run, like any other Paramount movie.

This wont hold up as good as Hidalgo, no way.
