Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
Same. I have really fond memories of my line-waits for the prequel midnight showings, and it's gonna feel weird waiting for a 7pm showing. Hopefully I won't be the only nerdy loser arriving at the theater hours early to get a good spot in line, LOL. I'll be awfully lonely (I am sadly having to go see the movie alone the first time).

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
Its all locale.
TDKR had reserve seating as well.
However now its not only SW but all kinds of films, that Imax is reserved seating now, there are more reserved seating screens and VIP screens and those hardly ever get 100% sold out around me ever. Always 1-10 tickets pending always.
Like I would ask are the sellouts you count sold out shows? or shows that are 99% full as well?

To put this in perspective: Our #1 grossing pre-show of all time is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 with $9.3 million and Jurassic World recently did $4.2 million. all of them

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
Well, I'm stuck seeing the movie in 3D on opening night... All the 7pm 2D showings at my theater sold out before I could arrange to buy a ticket. Seeing as how I don't drive and am thus relying on my sister to pick me up after the movie, I couldn't go to the next available 2D showtime (10pm-something). So... 3D it is.
Rather wish I had the means to be going to see it at the Olathe AMC instead; that theater is gonna be HOPPING. They have SO many sell-outs for Thursday night!

If you really must know, I am 30, but I am also autistic, from which stems severe anxieties about driving, amongst many other things.

The RT reviews will be sponsored by Duracell Quantum with a giant battery meter. If they are going to go the shameless advertising route, we should have Dumbo and a steaming pile of crap for rotten films.

Anchorage, AK
Update #5
Thursday: Sold Out: 25 Showings: 53
Friday: Sold Out: 9 Showings: 50
Saturday Sold Out: 7 Showings: 48
Sunday Sold Out: 7 Showings: 49
Calm before the storm update. With 48 sold out showings going into the films opening wk, this is a new record for sellouts pre-release here in Anchorage besting potter7.2 which had 33 pre-release sellouts at night of release.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
So far I counted 15 sellouts for Thursday previews and 6 sellouts for Friday here in Houston. Obviously, they will only go up the closer we get, but the amount of 4:00-5:00 morning showings for this is just insanity. Haven't seen that kind of demand for showings here since probably TDK back in Summer 08.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
Only one listed sellout for the weekend, thursday night, at the theater I'm going to. I'm sure most showings are 80-90% full, but none showing sold out.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
Quote: Disney and Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Force Awakens will get the widest December release in history when playing this weekend in more than 4,100 theaters.
That includes 3,300 3D locations, 392 IMAX screens — a record number — 451 premium large format screens and 146 D-Box locations.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is the current December record-holder (4,045 locations). The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, hitting theaters in late June 2010, boasts the widest release of all time (4,468 theaters). December is a more crowded corridor, however, so Force Awakens was never expected to set an overall record. Also, drive-in and other seasonal theaters are closed. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/b ... ce=twitter

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Sellout/Crowd Report Thread
How crowded will it be if I go between 10:30-11:30 Saturday morning? I don't want it to be barren, but the person I'm seeing it with has work at 3:30, so They want to go early, but I don't want to be the only ones in the theater.

Hell I'm trying to go to an early morning/matinee Friday show and I'm worried even that might sell-out. The theatre I'm going to usually doesn't sell-out far in advance, but it looks like quite a few of the 11:00-2:00 showings are already gone.

Don't fool yourself, there will be plenty of shows with lots of seats available as theater chains make sure that there's a lot of capacity...
