Totally forgot about these awards.

That Top 10 is pretty much the exact opposite of the SAG lunacy - it is as expected as it gets, except for the lack of Inside Out, but I am not sure whether they even put animated films in the Top 10.

Those ten films seem to be the contenders. The only notable miss is Steve Jobs. The Hateful Eight doesn't seem to have the same kind of momentum as Basterds or Django.

Looking more closely, these are the least surprising awards nominations in a long time. Pretty much all categories have the favorites in them.

Mad Max: Fury Road - 13 niminations
The Martian/Carol/The Revenant - nominations
Spotlight - 8 nominations

The Hateful Eight got six, without getting into Picture/Director

Director and Actor are very much down to those 6 candidates for 5 spots. Supporting Actress is getting close too, but Jane Fonda and Kristen Stewart are still contenders.

The Big Short continues to show strength. With that cast and their friends and the story and the good box office prospect, I think it's highly likely the film will be pretty well represented at Oscars, including a nom for BP.

Disappointed Inside Out never made noise in this race

WB can forget about Creed now and push Mad Max

They should fuck off.

If you want to include Star Wars, then wait until it has released.

Now they just look like petulant blowhards making themselves even more irrelevant.

Wasn't Ecuador used at one point to push a film beyond $1 billion worldwide?

The fact that they did this is so embarrassing.

Why? It is a 2015 film. Seems fine to me. These critics awards should all be done in 2016 anyway.

Completely agree. If you do the best of 2015 than you should include any film released between January 1st and December 31st of that year.

They should have waited to see Star Wars in the first place if it was so important to them. It is embarrassing to revise the nominations later and seems primarily a type of kowtow to the Mouse House.
