Oh man what a list of trailers to go with the IMAX showing nice. I'm thinking of seeing it in IMAX now.

My local one has a nice SW7 setup (with the stairs) that i saw the other day and makes me all the more hyped:

Image

Spoke to a few people today all uber keen on seeing it and two of my cousines who want to see it with me (last film i watched with them was Matrix Reloaded). The anticipation is intense. Then this evening i bumped in to an old movie buddy who asked me if i thought it would beat out Avatar at the BO - a very very rare BO conversation outside of this forum.

And to top things off - driving across town i snapped the below pic - dont think ive ever seen three movie billboards for the same film in the one block or line of sight.

This weekend has certainly tipped me over to the $800m+ total and ALL THE RECORDS!!

It still wasn't a total sellout cash grab like this movie is.

People want this film.
And it seems so far they very conscientiously created it to make a great film. In that case it's too harsh to call it a cash grab.
Splitting Mockingjay in 2 parts is the definition of total sellout cash grab, not this.

Once a film series reaches it's third incarnation, it's a cash grab regardless of the quality of the film.

Plus, Mockingjay didn't make nearly as much.

but lucas always planned at least 9 movies:

Mark Hamill has stated that Lucas told him in 1976, while filming the first film in Tunisia, that three Star Wars trilogies were planned. Lucas suggested Hamill could have a cameo role in Episode IX, which he imagined filming by 2011.[1][7] A Time magazine story in March 1978, quoting Lucas, also contained the assertion there would be ten further Star Wars films after The Empire Strikes Back.[8] Gary Kurtz was also aware of proposed story elements for Episode VII to Episode IX before 1980.[9][10]

In 1980, at the time of the release of The Empire Strikes Back, Lucas said there were seven further Star Wars films he wanted to make. He said he had "twelve-page outlines" for those films.[11]

Do I read this correctly: before the film has opened it has sold more tickets on Fandango than any movie ever during their entire time on Fandango?

That's what it reads like.

That can't be true, though, can it?

That's what it means. As I explained it in another thread. Many minutes ago.

But that's nuts.

On the other hand, if they just mean the tickets prior to a film's release, then it's just non-news since everyone knows that anyway.

Well we would need to know what % of Fandango buys are after opening weekend. Less than 10%? It's probably quite low.

I think anecdotal evidence that people are taking about this film everywhere you go, record pre-sales, great reviews and WOM so far and an assured OW record in DECEMBER - we are talking an all time BO champ. I'm expecting repeat business to be the best we e seen in years.
