Re: Mad Max will have the most nominations (or tie for most) I agree. Its feminist themes seem to be resonating well with the film community. Also Miller seems to be popular amongst a liberal Hollywood, remember Happy Feet "upset" Cars.

But will be hard to beat Carol which should do well in the techs also with 2 likely acting nominations (is a threat in Picture, Director, Actress, Supporting Actress, Editing, Screenplay, Score, Cinematography, Costume Design, Production Design, I think)

Re: Mad Max will have the most nominations (or tie for most) The Martian is still the favorite to have the most nominations IMO: Picture/Director/Actor/Screenplay/Editing/Cinematography/PD/VE/Sound*2 for 10 total, so it could miss say Actor or Screenplay and still get 9, and 8 seems to be the minimum for it.
