 Early Friday Numbers
Link - http://variety.com/2015/film/news/box-o ... 201653946/ Krampus - 6.5, 16 Creed - 4.4, 14 MJ2 - 19 TGD - 16 It will most likely go down, but that would be a great result for Krampus. Those drops seem quite harsh though, especially for Creed.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
That would suck for MJ2 and especially TGD. Looks like krampus OD could do VF total. I think there was a thread out there debating them, lol.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Post Thanksgiving weekend drops always tend to be harsh for animated films, as Penguins/Big Hero 6/Wreck-It Ralph all dropped in the 57-58% range, so that would not be unexpected for TGD.
Creed should have been to avoid 50% drop though given its demo, so I expect the projection to increase a bit later.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
That would be very impressive for Krampus considering the just OK preview number. It will probably go down, though.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
I'm not really seeing anything great from Creed so far. It needs MUCH better holds to reach my $145m prediction. Might have to settle for just $90m or so.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
IF Krampus kept that number that would be great. Especially on what is known as a dead weekend. Unfortunately I feel like it will go down. Hoping it doesn't though.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
I was a bit baffled by Mojo's $6m prediction for Krampus. Anything I've seen of it looks refreshing. If anything, it was going to attract a traditionally non-horror loving audience, as true horror aficionados are familiar with a number of Christmas-themed horror movies, whereas this will be the first truly mainstream movie of that kind to open since... Black Christmas '06?

Krampus topped $6m after all. Nice little surprise after weeks of disappointments.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Mojo never looked at post-TG drops. Wildly inaccurate comparisons.
Still better than Simpleton.
TGD WWW thread is deserved. Terrible performance.

TGD WWW thread is deserved. Terrible performance. Wow. I just went and read the BOM predictions. There really is no excuse for not knowing how big post-Thanksgiving drops are when the site you're writing for has all the data you need. Not to mention Krampus almost made his OW prediction in it's first day. (Not that we all saw that coming) Super disappointed in TGD. I'm not a crazy Pixar fan (I do enjoy most movies, though), but I love dinosaurs as it brings up some childhood nostalgia. Can't believe it probably won't cross 150M. Not great for MJ2 either, but hopefully it can get a better multiplier than part 1. I'm still just rooting for the franchise to have better legs with each installment. Next weekend looks like crap, so everything should probably hold well. Calm before the storm.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Pretty good debut for Krampus. I would think the PG-13 rating likely helped.
Also, all numbers:

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Glad Krampus did well. See, this doesn't have to be a dead weekend if you put out a product that people want to see. Do they really think Star Wars would disappoint the weekend after Thanksgiving? They need to just stop putting out junk in this frame. Krampus is a good start. The Last Samurai opened over 20 Million in this frame too.
I wonder how The Strangers 2 will do on this weekend next year. It's been a long time since the first so not sure it will hit double digits. Hopefully something else opens too.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Chi-Raq did $435,000 and should be good for a weekend of over 1 Million. Solid since they only announced the release date a month ago.
Great for Krampus and hilariously awful for The Good Dinosaur.

 Re: Early Friday Numbers
Not-spectacular-not-awful starts for both Youth and Macbeth. The Weinsteins have treated the latter as a bit of a redheaded stepchild despite an A-list cast and strong reviews. I guess they chose to funnel their ad budget into the Carol and Hateful Eight campaigns.

The Night Before is gonna leg its way to a $40+ million total. That's very solid.

Funniest thing to happen this holiday season would be if Alvin 4 finished above both The Good Dinosaur and Peanuts. Both runs are very underwhelming to me!

Nobody wants to see an Alvin sequel and Star Wars will slaughter it. The chipmunks are going to be barbequed after this film.
