Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
Even though I thought it wasn't possible to open massively in December with Christmas shopping people I've spoken to are planning things around SWEp7. So it could make a play for JW's record.
No one wants it spoiled for them so its something you need to see sooner rather than later to be a part of watercooler conversation.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
I'll never, ever be convinced of its hype prior to opening. But the movie buff in me thinks this looks fucking awesome & considers it a privilege to be able to follow it's release closely.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
This is probably not getting a 3X multiplier. Fanboy hype is way too big for that. Will hold like a summer film. Presales have proven it.

Behind a paywall? Fuck that.
Have we not already decided that pre-sales don't mean shit?

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
Okay, THR says it is domestic only. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/s ... cks-842279Also, it says that the previous record was The Dark Knight Rises with $25 million. And we still have one month to go. Holy mother of God, it is.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
DH2 also had 45m of pre-sales but that is as of its opening thursday. This still has a month to go !!!
On the spread of 50m, iMax should be super strong the entire weekend. So it should be spread out for sure.

Bullshit. Proud Ryu from July 2011: Proud Ryu wrote: There's other records too.
It's already broken the advance sales record with 32m and counting, and the IMAX screen record at 274.
