This was delightful and it's a shame that it received such an odd, botched release. It's a total crowdpleaser and tearjerker that would have definitely connected with audiences, particularly the chick flick crowd. Toni Collette is outstanding and heartbreaking here - I also loved how layered the character was and the script isn't afraid to make her unlikable. It felt like a very honest depiction of how someone would actually handle battling this disease. Drew Barrymore is equally wonderful and in top form here - she's as charming and lovable as ever and I really wish she would do more films. Dominic Cooper, Paddy Considine and Jacqueline Bisset are also all great. Catherine Hardwicke also does a great job in tackling what could have been a "disease of the week" kind of film and gives it a vibrant, personal flair. A-
