Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
There is obvious demand but up I agree with BK. The original SW was epic the rest were horrid. Lucas lost me with the likes of jar jar and aniken. I figure people see this as a return to former glory but it looks unappealing to me and I LOVED the first trilogy.

I literally did not know how many of my friends, for whatever reason, seem to like it. Just all kinds of people. I don't understand why. What is the appeal of Star Wars?
The prequels are absolutely terrible.
The only one I like is the original. They get progressively worse. It's the music, Han & Chewie and the X-wing/ Falcon and Lightsabers.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
SW has the same demo as JW and Avengers though right? It's four quadrant. I dont think presales driven by many fans is unusual, that's how it usually is no? Most casual audiences buy tickets the day of or at the theater.

I think due to the nature of SW, the nerd segment alienates parts of the other quadrants.

Franchises like Star Wars have crossed over into casual audiences buying advanced tickets.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
I wouldn't pay too much attention to who's buying tickets right now and trying to predict the OW based on that. It will no doubt have a massive OW based on pre-sales but the number of people buying tickets as December nears and the hype is in full swing will be HUGE. Then the rest will have the next couple of weeks to go and see it at Christmas or New Years. It doesn't need to do $200m OW to still break records. It will be likely close to that anyway.

I think it suffers for me being a middle part, plus ending with Solo in a cast etc. kind of makes it unable to really stand on its own so much. Then I did not like ROTJ with the Furbies and etc. There are great scenes no doubt, but as whole movies, only the first is great IMO.

I can understand where you're coming from especially with Han frozen at the end, but for me some of the best Star Wars stuff is in Empire: the amazing Yoda and the greatest plot twist of all-time (Vader as the father). The entire Star Wars mythology would be completely different without those two things.

I do like ROTJ though, the Ewoks never bothered me. I actually think they are awesome!

As do I. As do many people. It's almost as if people have different tastes. Well, there's an idea.

Apparently it is traking to open to $225 million. http://collider.com/star-wars-7-force-a ... edictions/Jesus That'd be enough to beat Avatar.

That tracking service isn't always reliable though. They are the same one's who had Spectre at $120M, Jurassic World at $130M, and Interstellar at $80M. Here - http://i.imgur.com/8Vy62iK.png
