In the next day or two sales will die down significantly and probably not pick up again until after Thanksgiving weekend.

It's fucking Star Wars which is the definition of a internet/geek friendly franchise. I believe people have always wanted a reason to get excited for these movies again and the fact that it looks great aswell as them bringing back the BIG three should be enough to do it.

Pretty amazing that it destroyed all of them by such a large margin.

I just don't see it as a fair comparison the way it is written in that article. And I totally see that the chasm between the two revenues is too large to argue against.

I just don't see it as a fair comparison the way it is written in that article. And I totally see that the chasm between the two revenues is too large to argue against. Why do you assume the others did not have other showtimes? I bought my tickets for TDKR the first day they were available and my tickets were for Saturday, not for midnight or even Friday night. It is not uncommon for them to offer the entire weekend of tickets for sale on the first day like this. SW7 blew them all out of the water. The fact that all of these were crashed for many hours is strong proof of the demand: Fandango, MovieTickets.com, AMC.com, Regal.com, and just about any other place you can buy movie tickets. This didn't happen with Potter 8, TDK/TDKR, none of the Hunger Games movies, etc.
