Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
It's refreshing that they are still keeping so much underwraps, but that trailer did feel more like another teaser. I thought the last one was more effective, but it really doesn't matter because the movie is going to be fucking HUGE regardless.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
By far the best trailer. Though Kylo Ren looks like a bad villain. The plot elements introduced here should get enough of the casual audience for over 500 million, given the film isn't horrible.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
so... what are we thinking for preview #s now? It's quite interesting to see that the only films that have gotten previews/midnights over 30 are several of the Twilights, HP8 and Dark Knight Rises. This should blow past 30 if Age of Ultron got 27.

Fandango has been down for hours now. Don't think that has ever happened before. $100m opening day and over $200m weekend in play.

The TV viewership was likely over 15 million at least. 2.36 million in 53 minutes. YouTube posting is also at 221k, and they are far slower than Facebook at counting views.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
Maybe I should just take a break from KJ and come back December 20, when the world has shut down because every human on the planet is watching SW:TFA all day long.

The AMC Burbank 16 has sold out both the 7 and 10:30 p.m. IMAX shows (and the 7 p.m. 2D show).

Should open to the high 100's and finish in the high 600's.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
I'm still not in the 200 million 1b team, but this is a really great trailer. Who could have ever guessed a year ago that this film would look to recapture the old magic and not be some generic piece of Disneyfied shit?
This truly looks wonderful, and my earlier low predictions were based on it just looking okay or like a Star Wars film. But this trailer really makes me hope all of you are right and the film is one of the biggest ever, if not the biggest. It is almost moving how love of a story can unite the world and make people completely forget their own problems.
I'll be there opening day. I really can't be sure how much of the casual audience this will attract, but 150 million is locked now and higher wouldn't be completely shocking.
The film will be too front loaded for a 100 million OD though. It could fall 40-50% Saturday, IMO. Previews should make up half the OD similar to Potter.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
The brand's standing among the 18-35 crowd is a fraction of what it was with the prequel films.
I don't care how strong the marketing is. It won't top 150m in December.

Really, besides the Potter films, which are absolutely untouchable in my heart, this is my most anticipated film of all time.
