Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
YouTube views aren't necessarily the best way to gauge film interest. SW has a very vocal fan base that is totally likely to watch the trailer ten times and then share it on social media.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
Only that it's the direct sequel to a movie audiences didn't like very much, starring a guy as Batman that they seem very (stupidly) mixed about. I know a number of people who've read the script and they all say it's okay. Magnus wrote: ten different people on my newsfeed, all of whom barely go see movies in theaters, posted about THE GOD DAMN POSTER today.
the biggest question mark with the film is whether people will wait to go see it cause of the holidays coming and to avoid the rush on OW. so it may not get a 200m+ OW like JW or Avengers. How many films trend on Twitter because of a poster? 'Cause THE FORCE AWAKENS was there all day.

How many films trend on Twitter because of a poster? 'Cause THE FORCE AWAKENS was there all day. im sure twilight films have (and maybe HG?). also, not to side track, but the negative view of Batflek is dying. People are coming around to him imo. I'm pretty sure the recent Mockingjay Part 2 poster, while not as big as Star Wars obviously, did okay. Star Wars is also helped by the fact pretty much nothing is known about it, so any piece of info is precious. I'm not looking for evidence of interest. I'm looking for reason for interest. I don't need to hear social media stats, I'm perfectly capable of looking that up. It doesn't change the fact that so far, the marketing campaign has taken no angle other than "Star Wars is back!" People will check out the film, but only the fans will go OW. It's just a few days before Christmas. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and,I'm not even sure I'll catch it OW. I would fucking love SW to break all the records. But I'm trying to separate my excitement from the box office predicting.

Awesome - this poster brought Magnus back to KJ - its already a winner! This film will absolutely clean up. And it wont and doesn't need to break the OW record. In December - it just needs a 3-day over $150m (to do serious BO damage) as legs will carry it through January.

People even mentioning Avatar as a possible milestone for The Force Awakens are dumb. Dumb fucking comments from dumb fucking people. Welcome back, Magnus.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
If I remember correctly, Avengers: Age of Ultron was like one of the most popular trailers ever, and that closed at 459 million. That is a range I expect SW7 to end up in, probably higher due to the legs it will get. But business will be far more spread out, and the film will get at least a 3.5X multiple.
But really, there is little difference between 475-525 million. It will still be a huge hit, and the number one hit of the season nonetheless.

Its legs will only be a result of its contained December opening.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
People here seriously start to think it will beat Avatar? It might end in the top 5 Worldwide but there is a holy rule
THE NEXT MOVIE THAT WILL BEAT A JAMES CAMERON MOVIE WILL BE A JAMES CAMERON MOVIE
If they announce that Cameron will make Episode 9 with a huge friggin epic Space Battle.....than we can start talking.

People always expect something that has huge potential to take down records. It doesn't happen. Because that's not the way it works.

#BoycottStarWarsVII is trending because the leads are a woman and a black man. We've lost the support of the white supremacists.

Tickets were on sale at the Arclight for five minutes before the thousand seat Dome sold out.
Can anyone log onto Fandango? Both Fandango and the Arclight website are down for me.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
This third trailer better be worth the hype. I still remember how everyone got amped up for that underwhelming second trailer for AOU which also premiered on ESPN during football.
