Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
I think it's very sad that we're not far off from me thinking, "Jesus, there are too many STAR WARS movies."
I roll my eyes when Marvel announces new movies. I smirk when DC chases Marvel with their movies. And we're just about there with the galaxy far, far away.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
They are creating a new trilogy which has been floated around since the 80's by Lucas himself (on top of 1, 2 and 3). It's what most fans wanted after the prequels. I personally don't think there is a fatigue, its been a perfect amount of time since the last time we went on an adventure with these characters and a new trilogy is perfect. These "Star Wars Story" movies aren't a necessity, but from what I've seen an heard, Rouge One is going to be badass.
Marvel and DC have been doing this longer (planned universe) but Kathleen Kennedy seems like she knows what she's doing and could possibly be doing a better job at it then those other folks. So far 5 movies have been officially announced and each one has their own exciting points to them, be it who is directing them or the implications of the universe as we know it (Han Solo's story). With Marvel and DC we know where it's going. They have all this material to sift through and say "Yeah, let's make this storyline into a movie." Star Wars is virtually starting from scratch and have hired competent people to man the ships when needed. I say bring on some more.
You won't hear me complain about too much Star Wars.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
A new trilogy is not overkill at all.
However squeezing in the two (or three) anthology films is. 6 months from Rogue to SW8 is too short a time.
I'd prefer the anthology films come out after this trilogy is done. It would add more weight to both. Plus a bad anthology film wont impact reception of the trilogy.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
Disney don't give a shit about fans. They want cash, and they want it now. They are actually acting like they do with a new franchise - "rush it through and release it all as soon as possible"...but Star Wars doesn't need to be treated like that. It's already stood the test of time (multiple times). Did the studios learn NOTHING from 2003's "The Year of The Matrix"???!

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
Considering Disney is going to be adding Star Wars to their parks, I don't think they're trying to "rush this" just to get the movie money. They need to make sure people still love it so they can make even more money forever.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
Has there ever been a $200+m production which is widely expected to be one of the biggest grossers of all-time with no (official) one-sheet ten weeks before opening?

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
Indy 4 was very much the same way. I remember the story of 1 guy telling a scene and Spielberg removed it from the film to avoid spoilers. 1 full trailer is really all you need, especially when you take into the other 2 being unanimously loved and shattered viewing records

I did see that Chewbacca thing plush toy that made noise and it was listed as 100$. That can't be right. I do like all the Legos things but god damn Legos are like gold. That cost is like 80% brand. I just started collecting Funko Pop figures. So far I have just the unmasked Darth Vader. It's pretty cool! I plan on getting all the OT's & ST's first before getting started on the PT's. I went on Star Wars Amazon shopping spree yesturday. Ordered The Darth Vader PS4 console with Battlefront game set. Also ordered Spero BB8 droid finally. Plus a bunch of Funko POP Star Wars bobbleheads. I lost count lol think close to 15 bobbleheads.

Re: Star Wars - Episode VII - Predictions
I'm torn. I don't know if I want to watch the trailer tomorrow night. I don't really need to see more before I see the movie in two months. At the same time, I want more. If this trailer is a home run, I definitely think records are going down, even if it is a December release. The fanbase is big and wide enough to threaten DH2 for OD and certainly Jurassic World's 208.8M OW.
