But Algren is still right about Del Toro. Beauty and the Beast (the WB version), the stop-motion Pinocchio, Frankenstein, The Hobbit, Disney Double Dare You, Justice League Dark, Silent Hills (video game), At the Mountains of Madness, likely Hellboy III, now possibly this...Del Toro has enough unmade/development-hell stuff to constitute an entire parallel-universe career.

I was on the negative side way before anyone else. I hated Smaug and predicted Battle would be not only a terrible film, but gross the least of the 3. I was right on all counts. But I built the dam Wagon! It took 7 days and 15 trees. My finest horse died in a fire whilst I built it :  But Yeah! I enjoyed the first Hobbit film overall. Re: Pacific Rim 2 on indefinite hold I cannot mourn the death of Pacific Rim 2. I am a fan of Del Toro in general, but I found the first to be a rare and major misfire. It is such a dull, lumbering, visually swampy film.
