Looks like the transition of Kong: Skull Island from Universal to Warner might have killed del Toro's sequel.

I liked the first movie. LIKED. I'm not going to lock myself in my room and slash my wrists if we don't get a second.

But Algren is still right about Del Toro. Beauty and the Beast (the WB version), the stop-motion Pinocchio, Frankenstein, The Hobbit, Disney Double Dare You, Justice League Dark, Silent Hills (video game), At the Mountains of Madness, likely Hellboy III, now possibly this...Del Toro has enough unmade/development-hell stuff to constitute an entire parallel-universe career.

Not even as a producer? Clever move by Legendary. It gives this film a glimmer of hope.

No, I mean the fact that it is on hold has nothing to do with del Toro. He would still be directing.

Crap, and I forgot about the Haunted Mansion reboot, and the Hulk TV show. I swear, Del Toro has pitched, been attached to or almost made more stuff than he has ACTUALLY made.

He wouldn't have. If he was still attached, it still wouldn't be made.

That's too bad, I'd be totally game for a sequel.

And it would have been better for that.

You gave the first a B+ so don't jump on the negative bullshit wagon now.

Are you serious? I was on the negative side way before anyone else. I hated Smaug and predicted Battle would be not only a terrible film, but gross the least of the 3. I was right on all counts.

But I built the dam Wagon! It took 7 days and 15 trees. My finest horse died in a fire whilst I built it : :(

But Yeah! I enjoyed the first Hobbit film overall. Smaug a C, and D for Five Armies.

I cannot mourn the death of Pacific Rim 2. I am a fan of Del Toro in general, but I found the first to be a rare and major misfire. It is such a dull, lumbering, visually swampy film.

I think that Crimson Peak's performance definitely killed Pacific Rim 2 and any remaining chances of Hellboy 3 for good.

I really do not understand Universal pushing forward with this thing. They're rich with franchises, why take the risk with another studio's leftovers?

They'd be better off just calling it something other than Pacific Rim and treating it like a new series.

What's the thinking here ... That all the Force Awakens fans will go and see Boyega in a new franchise? lol
