If you're loving a hated film in a so-bad-it's-good way then I don't think it qualifies for this thread. It doesn't make you cool to "like" something because you actually hate it, but are too afraid to actually like it.

Yup, that's undeniably it. The trailer failures to capture all the magic, or lack thereof.
It's kind of crazy that this was ever made. It was a cute joke series, meant to counteract the Cabbage Patch Kids. I mean, my knowledge is minimal of the original trading cards, but despite the cheap recreations, they're pretty close to what I imagine real versions of these characters would be.
But it's like trying to make a film out of a fairly innocuous board game like, say, Battleship, and... oh wait...

I think that's fair, but I also think it's pretty clear I still loved it. Even if the film is awful in every conceivable way, I still clearly had a boisterous reaction to it. I honestly would watch it again in a heartbeat. Lesser minds would be too cool for school on that, but not me. It's allowable to love a movie for how bad it is.

I'm really surprised on for some movies on here. A 0 rating is just too low for many. For instance Staying Alive, but also Police Academy 4, 5, 6 and Look Who's Talking Now! really enjoyed them as a kid.
Love is such a strong word still but some other poorly rated RT movies I quite like: The Beach, Need for Speed.
From movies considered the worst I also quite liked North when I saw it.
The Counselor. I always here movie talk personalities trash that but I actually like it. I may like it more for the visual costume design but I still liked the story overall. This one has a 35% critic and 23% user. I think this fits the topic perfect now.

I think Garbage Pail Kids still qualifies because I don't think it has achieved that "So bad, it's good" crowd that latched on to The Room, which in itself I agree would not qualify. Most people just flat out hate it.

That's totally it. I'd actually call it universally loved for being terrible.
There is just so much wrong going on in this one scene, it's a great lesson on how not to script, film, or edit a scene.
Youtube is the way to go though, if you're gonna try to watch the film, make sure you drink.

stuffp, is there a film in the last five years that is generally hated/disliked that you liked or loved?
Because, in my opinion, movies you loved as a kid do not count. This will really tell me if you do indeed just follow the general consensus of a movie or if you actually have your own taste.

Well, I generally do not love a movie that everyone hates, I probably agree with those reasons for everyone hating it.
As for generally disliked films that I like: Need for Speed (2014) Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) Recent Stallone films (2012-2015) The Tourist (2010)
So that's just a few I guess..I don't really keep track of films that I like but others don't.
Of the films above I only love NatM really, but the others are definitely underrated in general as well.
