 Desperate Hours
Desperate Hours Quote: Desperate Hours is a 1990 remake of the 1955 William Wyler crime drama of the same title. Both films are based on the novel by Joseph Hayes, who also co-wrote the script for this movie with Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal. (Rosenthal and Konner's other collaborations include the screenplay of Superman IV: The Quest For Peace.) Desperate Hours stars Mickey Rourke, Anthony Hopkins, Mimi Rogers, Kelly Lynch, Lindsay Crouse, Elias Koteas and David Morse. It is directed by Michael Cimino, who had previously worked with Rourke on the films Heaven's Gate and Year of the Dragon.

Desperate Hours
As far as domestic thrillers go, this isn't a bad one. Not the best, but not terrible either. Directed by Cimino, you know it's going to be half-decent, or if not then at least interesting, but it is a little dated in terms camera techniques and editing. It has good performances by Anthony Hopkins and Mimi Rogers, and Kelly Lynch is a fucking babe (topless on numerous occasions). Mickey Rourke isn't as good here, but he still turns in cool performance, but his character is underwritten which may be the reason why I didn't feel him. The score is nice, very Hitchcockian in its suspense tempo even when nothing of note is happening.
