Martial Arts movies have to be the last bastion of true banboi-dom in the states. Its impossible to find anyone with a critical eye unless its Jackie Chan movies, heh. I still thank him for that, because he's taught us that "doing your own stunts" doesn't necessarily mean the whole movie is all that great. One day we'll apply it to all the other ones.

As far as HOFD, I did like it alot better than Hero, and thought visually it was a much stronger and better choreographed movie as well.

 I didn't thinkit was bad, but I wouldn't give it an A+. Geesh, its about a bunch of guys fighting over a woman..literally, its not a metaphor for something else.

Anwyas, have yu seen A River Runs Through It? I'm venturing you'd love that movie. I think its an excellent film, and if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it.

21 Dark City (1998) 9.1

Now these are the movies I really love.

Man on Fire is the best of Tony Scott's films and the best english language film of last year. Many critics seemed not to like it because of the torture scenes, but I didn't have any problem with that. Some may disagree with me on this, but torture does work, and I wouldn't judge someone like Creasy for using it when a little girl's life is on the line.

They deserved what they got. That's what I really loved about this one. I understood Creasy completely.

I think I loved it so much because it was so intense and suspenseful. Definately great acting as well.

ok, ok, I'll post #2 and #3, and I'll put my top film up first thing when I wake up. Hope it's not as predictable as Zing's top film for the 2000s list.

9.7
3 Gladiator (2000) 9.7 - For the longest time, this was my favorite film. I certainly still think it's great although I suppose I've come to see my top two as being ahead of it (both of which I saw before Gladiator

9.8
2 Princess Mononoke (1997) 9.8
