This one seems very hard to predict. Advertising has been very quiet, but if they would advertise, it has great trailers. It has a no name cast, few would even recognize the girl from Elf. This could easily bomb.

I want it to do better than this but:
$16m opening
$47m finish
I hope I'm wrong. Just seems like one of those big films that bombs for some reason. Hard to predict ](*,)

Well first of all, movies like this are an acquired taste as with all British Comedy and humor like the Monty Python Movies or the humor like Mystery Science Theatre 3000, and that alone will mean a smaller opening and when I think of this film, I'm reminded of a movie called BEAN that catered to this same kind of humor and it Bombed.. I'll be generous and say a 20 Million weekend for this, but even I'm really hesitant with this prediction to since I haven't heard a peep out of this marketing wise..

Somethning is going to make money that weekend. Will it be Hitchhiker or Kingdom of Heaven? So far the consensus is that both will do poorly and that isn't really very likely.

At first I thought it would majorly underperform thanks to TV spots that are for some reason trying to make it look like an action movie. :???: However, the fact that Disney got that internet trailer on screens gives me hope. If they can get something similar for the TV ads I think it will exceed 35 million opening weekend. If that trailer is a fluke, forget about it. So right now I'm debating 21/66 or 36/110

Like I said, British Humor is an acquired taste for an acquired audience and not everyone is going to be into this.. Stick with your 21/66 prediction.. I'd be very surprised if it were anymore than that..

I have no idea where to begin with predicting this.. I haven't seen or heard squat about this and it comes out next month.. I guess I'll pull this out of my rear end and say 20-25 Million for the weekend and no prediction on a final total at the moment.. I just think this movie along with BEAN II will cater to a certain audience that would be better appreciated over in the UK than in the U.S.. Will see next month I guess.. If this opens at the end of May when SW3 opens up 2 weeks earlier, it's gonna get clobbered BIG TIME.. Don't underestimate Darth Vader and the Emperor and Multiple Wookies just because the last 2 movies were mixed.. EPISODE III really is the REAL EPISODE I.. Perhaps Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy would be better suited in an August release???

Actually B it's getting released three weeks before Star Wars, but it wouldn't matter anyways.

3 weeks before huh??? So around May 1st is when this comes out and it's now April 4th??? Hate to say it, but the studio responsible for this better get on the stick and start advertsing this movie better and market it better otherwise it's gonna sink like a ship..

It's being marketed very aggressively and it's still like two weeks away.
