Last Two I think I'll mention. This one really changed so much. I never saw a film look like this before or my friends in high school.
And that moment when Tarantino was more than just a good Gangster movie guy. The 4th film by Tarantino has become such a great marketing technique especially considering the 10th will be his last.

The Sin City trailer I don't think is that good, but what an epic movie was that. I saw that in college with a friend and it blew our mind. Sin City is just a classic, and the sequel just never lived up to that.
Kill Bill is a great movie and it's great how the trailer feeds it off. I feel like watching that again soon.

ID4's trailer was so iconic. Emerich movies usually have pretty outstanding trailers.
Considering Smith isn't in the new one, I would not be surprised to see Fox go all out with the sequel's first teaser/trailer. If its subpar, probably make or break for the movie IMO.

I can't argue on that one. The marketing on LOTR #2 was my favorite of all six films.
The Two Towers trailers doesn't do much to me, also at that time I wasn't so into those movies. The Two Towers is one of the best movies ever though, it's so well made, well told, with awesome battles.

That was a great trailer at the time, and it still holds up. It's the best alien invasion film for me.

Warner Bros. are the best at making trailers. Just look at any of the trailers for last year's Man of Steel. All of terrific. The last two in trailers are both WB too.

The voice over in trailer is a bit annoying though I feel, wonder who's that voice.

It's a good trailer, and one of the great examples where the trailer is better than the movie.
If you're looking for trailers better than their movie, look no further than Finding Nemo.

Hmm...I am sure there are a few better ones. But in terms of just being simply blown away by the footage + presentation combo...the final TRANSFORMERS trailer really sticks out.
I'd rather marry lindsay Lohan than represent Mel Gibson.

The Day After Tomorrow. The movie sucked but the trailer and teaser were awesome!

Re: Which is the best trailer ever?
I'd be hesitant to include any sequels here, as editing them is so much easier when the audience already knows the characters.
The Matrix Reloaded, The Dark Knight final trailer and Dominos Trailer, The Two Towers, and many others I am sure.
For "original" movies, Transformers 1 is the best I have seen live. It was based on toys (!!!). It had a no name actress and former Disney child star in the lead roles. Michael Bay's last 3 films all disappointed, with his most recent one (The Island) being a mega flop. On paper, Transformers had NOTHING going for it.
But then people saw the footage and boom.

I enjoyed this trailer, and the movie it self.
Original concept in the beginning, but way too much Nic Cage being Nic Cage to be considered an all timer.

Recent great ones would be Wolf of Wall Street, Pineapple Express (That Song!!!) Inception, and American Sniper.
