Post Monday Numbers
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON - $13.2m

BoxOffice.com wrote:
Avengers: Age of Ultron continued to dominate the daily box office on Monday with an estimated daily take of $13.2 million. In the process, the blockbuster superhero sequel from Disney and Marvel surpassed the $200 million mark on Monday. The film reached the milestone in four days; making it the second fastest film ever to reach the milestone (behind only 2012's Marvel's The Avengers). However, Avengers: Age of Ultron was down a sizable 74 percent from Sunday's performance. That is a concerning early sign given that The Avengers declined 67 percent to gross $18.89 million on its first Monday. The first Monday performance of Avengers: Age of Ultron was much closer to that of 2013's Iron Man 3, which fell 74 percent on its first Monday to gross $11.27 million. With a massive four-day start of $204.47 million, Avengers: Age of Ultron is running 10 percent behind the $226.34 million four-day take of The Avengers and 10 percent ahead of the $185.41 million four-day gross of Iron Man 3.

It's $5.5m lower than Avengers' first Monday and $2m higher than Iron Man 3's first Monday. So... shrug. Probably looking at finishing a bit under $500m.

The drop is closer to IM3 not a good start of the weekdays. It needs an increase on Tuesday.

Is it really that bad considering the very soft Sunday decline?

It was the second biggest Sunday ever even when adjusted for inflation, which should have theoretically pushed more business Monday. So I'd consider it disappointing. Not bad, but disappointing.

Whoops for some reason I read 11.2, not 13.2. That isn't THAT Bad.

If you follow patterns for similar films released around similar times, It's weekend is going to be ~5.5-6x as big as it's Monday.

65 to 77-78 ball park for the weekend which is pretty crappy.

You're posting on a DC website, is it really that surprising? It didn't perform as well, end if story and now the DC fans here will crawl all over it devouring the few pieces of dead skill that shed off of Marvel's popularity.

I'm not a DC fan. I'm not even a comic book fan. I do like watching them though when they are entertaining.

Marvel has made sub-standard cookie cutter movies for awhile now. In fact, most of their movies are like that.

I'm glad that it's catching up to them, finally, even if AoU will still make $450m+ anyway.

Its not that bad really. Its tracking between IM3 and Avengers. So with a weak May slate - $480-$500m isn't out of the question.

Yeah the 3rd weekend is key (when it gets a jolt of competition). Memorial Day weekend will likely be kind to it regardless unless Tomorrowland somehow really breaks out.

That wouldn't be horrible. It isn't exactly inspired, though.

Same trajectory as TA places it at a $77m 2nd weekend, 60% drop.

Well, if it is under by the same margin as yesterday, I'm right.
